What is the best gift you can think of for a 2yr old girl?

Looking for something that is always a good toy that I may not be thinking of. Something fun, entertaining, not too messy as she lives with me (same for loud). No legos or lincoln logs but something "lasting" and fun.

A water slide in the backyard. You can get it at Walmart.

You didn't say price, so here's a few in different price ranges:

A kitchen, my daughter loved this and still uses it. It's the best toy investment we made (and we got it at a garage sale for $15, the refrigerator for $10).

    An easel for drawing.

A floor piano (this one's loud, sorry, but has volume control).

A set of dishes, tea set, etc.

Playsets are good at this age. We got Noah's Ark b/c of all the animals, so she'll continue to use it. Also, underwater sets b/c of fish, sharks, etc. (Nemo has made these very popular). Fisher price has some good ones, too.

Princess or ballerina dress up stuff.

Sit n spin or hopping ball (those round balls with handles).

Baby dolls with accessories - bed, high chair, carrier, etc.

Car sets (girls like these, too).

    Hope this helps.

Some things my 2 yr. old loves are play food and dishes (she also has a toy microwave cuz she loves our real one), the Crayola Color Wonder markers and coloring books, also the fingerpaints (but she tends to use too much, the only part that ends up messy), a baby doll with a changing station (we have one set that is a cradle/changing table with a mobile, and a high chair on the end, all one piece).

How about the Crayola Color Wonder markers/paints and paper?-to be used only with supervision, of course. They are not messy because they only write on the special paper. Entertaining and educational. The only noise you will hear are her squeals of delight. This is a good way to get her interested in writing her letters and drawing things, too.

Can't beat a good book or set of books for what you describe. No mess, fun, entertaining and you can't start reading too early.

You should get her, if she does not already have one, a grocery cart. My daughter just got one at 15 m, and I hae never been happier. She loves to play with the thing. I hardly hear her and sometimes I need to check on her!!

    Anything with Dora the Explorer

Anything to imitate mommy or grandma or whoever she adores. A purse, kiddie jewelry & maybe a savings bond on the side.

Books!! Teaching a child to love to read can never begin too early!
