where does Jesus talk about the people that honor god with their LIPS but not their ACTIONS?

Matthew 15:8,Mark 7:6, and these two verses are pure gold as well, Isa. 29:13,Romans 3:13

All through the 4 gospels you find that Jesus honor his Father by actions towards poor people. His whole life should be an example for us. He talks about the Farisees who stands on street corners and pray and use big words. He says that these people make themselve look good, but their deeds do not reflect what they say. Also read the book of James. It emphasises that actions count more that just mere words.

Isaiah29:13

Matthew 15:6-9 is the best one.

"And so YOU have made the word of God invalid because of YOUR tradition. YOU hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about YOU, when he said, ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.'”

We see many examples of this today, particulary with the Catholic Church. It holds up traditions they have instituted above scripture. They claim to represent God, but allow molestation of children, etc.

It's in Isaiah.

They that "with their lips do honor me, but their hearts are far from me."

Joseph Smith said that this is what Christ had to say about every other Church except his when He appeared to him in the "Sacred Grove." No mention, though, about how far Joseph's heart was from the Lord in Nauvoo when he started his rampage of public drunkenness and secret polygamy behind his wife's back.

in every aspect of lifes and people we have some that are fonys some who with lip service claim to love and honor and worship God . the claims are false with there mouth and lips they utter that have a relationship with God but their hearts are not .. they are only fonys in a make believe world ..with there lips they claim to be christian but in there hearts they are not..... making them false people claiming they are pure in hearts . but God know when its only lip service and not earnest honest heart service and worship...

I don't remember, but it's a very dangerous practice.
