If you ask an offensive question, should you expect an offensive answer?

Let's say I said " President Clinton was a worthless pig" and in return I was called "stupid", shouldn't I just suck it up or should I cry to the moderators because I was offended?

Most people with some level of intelligence and maturity would probably not insult you back, or would come up with a better insult. Unless it is truly demeaning, I'd say you should suck it up. It is just common sense that asking an offensive question will get some offensive answers. Of course you could choose to leave out descriptors like "worthless pig" when you ask questions to avoid situations like that.

I believe regardless of whether you intend to offend or not, some people are going to be rude. Those are the ones not worth your time. When asking an offensive question, be prepared for offensive answers. Crying to the moderators should only be tolerated when someone is threatened. Otherwise, what goes around, comes around.

It's freedom of speech. Say what you want. I have seen a lot worse posted on answers.. in turn, there are people that don't even read the question in its entirety before posting a response. All they really need is one adjective that catches their eye. Sorry if that did happen to you. Maybe if you use that term, but with a word they actually have to look up and define, they can't cry to the moderator without looking like a moron.

You should at least expected an extraneous insult or two, even if the answerer does provide an actual answer.

I've always expected to get insulted if I ask a question like that, it just goes with the territory.

Amazingly enough though, even after I pointed that out to the Yahoo folks, they didn't return my points.

    Of course.

I would hope that most people would try to be civil (But I am smart enough to know that would not happen).

However many people intentionally put up inflammatory questions just so they can report inflammatory answers.

Some times it is like watching evil little children run to teacher.

    "we reap what we sow."

So, yes. A mature person would have debated the issue with you, though.

It is not a question, either, so it is in violation of community guidelines.

aww, dont cry. any question you ask in this section you should get ready for someone to belittle you. and if they are that offensive and inappropriate. simply report them.

some people are wimps, they can certainly dish it out but they cannot take it...it's just that simple...they should just stick to their knitting.
