I want to know if you can be poisoned by leaving food in tin cans?

If you cover it with plastic wrap and pop it into the fridge, it would probably be OK. They don't use lead any more to solder cans (at least on the inside). Better to use a properly washed plastic container.

Some Cans have a Lining, Like A Plastic Paint, In which if you cover is OK
And yes you can be poisoned by leaving food in tin cans

Once the can has been open the surface begins to deteriorate, it is tin after all, and will rust. Whilst it may be alright for 24 hours, don't risk it, a covered plastic container will do.
My guess is the food will go off faster than any effect the tin will have.

You can, but the food will begin to pick up the metalic taste of the can. "Tin cans" are actually made of steel. To keep them from rusting, the inside of the can is treated with zinc. It is the zinc that erodes off that you would taste on the food.
It is much better to store the food in a tupperware or plastic container with a lid.
Foodborne bacteria is just as likely to grow on food left in a can as one the same food put in another unsealed container in the refrigerator.
So the answer is "yes." But save yourself some bad taste, and put it in a glass, ceramic, or plastic container.

Yes.
These days you can, "sorry no pun intended"
a long time ago you couldn't. I do it all the time. Like half eaten can fruit, a can of coffee milk, can of bake beans and so on.
Just make sure after you have opened the can you cover it and put it in the fridge.

you definetly shouldn't leave it sitting out, any food in any container for that matter. i usually can leave it out for a few hours, tops and then put it away. but you have to put it into a different container to put it in the fridge, dont just put foil or plastic wrap over it, it doesn't cover it properly and it will pick up flavors from you fridge. yuck.

no! Do not, I repeat DO NOT leave food in a can and put it in the fridge, especially if it has touched the brim of the can! Thats practically a breeding ground for bacteria, and if you eat whatever has been in that can, you could get Botulism (Not sure if I spelled that right).

Make sure you cover it and no air can get in. Wouldn't it be easier just to put it in a plastic bowl so you know you won't die? just saying.
