Help!! Cat trouble!!! Cat died now other cat might too!!?

My cat, Kitty, just died. My other cat Misty was his mate. After my mom buried him, she lays down where his body is. She won't eat or drink. She is very sad. I don't know what to do. I love her dearly, and don't want to lose another cat.

By the sounds of it, she's missing her mate. Even animals experience heartbreak. Cuddle her, play with her, spend more time with her.

If she continues to not eat or drink, get her to the vet- she may get dehydrated and need medical help. Besides, maybe she is stricken with whatever your other cat had.. what did your other cat die of?

Sorry for your loss, by the way. Losing a cat is hard.

Ignatia is the homeopathic remedy for grief. You can purchase a vial of pellets (30C) from a health foods store. Get an amber bottle with dropper at the same time. You put four or five pellets in the bottle and fill it with filtered water. When the pellets are dissolved tap the bottle about ten times and put a teaspoon of the liquid into 1/4 cup of filtered water. Give your cat a dropperful of that liquid then discard it. Give another dropperful the next day - taking a teaspoon from the amber bottle again and mixing it with another 1/4 cup of filtered water. You should have enough still in the amber bottle to use the third day.

Misty needs to eat something in the next day. Try some baby food from the grocery store - chicken or turkey are best. The baby food must have NO ONION or garlic powder so read the labels carefully. See if Misty will eat something from your finger and feed her a fingerful every several hours till she will eat on her own.

I'm sorry that Kitty died, but did you know that cats 'mourn' the loss of someone they loved just as people do ... and your cat Misty is 'mourning' Kitty and trying to 'get close to Kitty' by lying on Kitty's grave. I know you don't want to 'lose' another cat, but if Kitty and Misty have been 'together' all of their lives, and Kitty was 'an old cat' when it died, then Misty may die too ... so why don't you and your mom go get a 'new kitten' to raise, and perhaps that will help Misty 'recover' from the loss of Kitty ... or you'll already have your 'new cat' and be loving it, if Misty does die. I'll say a prayer for your cats, too ... because God does 'help' animals, and not 'just people' to get through life.

    People are saying get a kitten, all i want to say is;

dont let your current cat think you are trying to replace the cat you've lost, because you cant. You dont want your current cat also to think she will be pushed to the side because there is a new addition and the addition may be more loved than her.

Or that you are updating her or that you are getting a new one because you are bored of her.

You dont want Misty to have these feelings on top of her heartbreak.

If you do get a kitten, make sure the kitten gets used to her, not her having to get used to the kitten.

If you get what i mean.

Make Misty feel as special as you can, even if you dont get a kitten, but if you do, dont let her feel left out as there is a younger more energetic cat about now.

And remember never to lose sights for Misty.

    Misty was here first.

I'm sorry about your loss, i hope you, your family and Misty feel better soon.

That is very sad, but I can help you. The same almost happened with my to be cat, but I couldn't take her home, so I felt the same way you do. try to pamper her and be kind. Try to let her forget what happened, but still let her remember her happy moments with the cat that passed away. I Really Wish You Good Luck With Your Cat! Really!

    =) =l

I hope that your cat gets over his grief. I don't know what to tell you.

But, I want to relay this story. Last week one of my cats got ran over. I didn't see it happen, but heard one of my cat's meowing. I seen about 4 cats gathered around him in the road. I ran out there, but it was too late. He was dead.

He was still warm, it just happened minutes before I seen them. I've never seen cats gather around another like him.

I picked him up, they all followed me. My husband dug a grave. They all stood there watching. I then buried him and the rest of the cats kinda stood around looking to see what was going on.

It was the strangest thing that I've ever seen. After we left, they all kinda took turns smelling and looking over the grave. It gave me goose bumps, but then again, I felt good that they knew they lost one of their own and seemed to be paying respects.

This was very hard for me. I uderstand how your other cat must feel. I wish I knew how to bring him back to life.

Maybe if he had another kitten to take care of, it might help him. Good luck. I know this has to be very hard for you.

The only thing that might help is if you get another cat. Best a kitten. It may take her mind off his death. Also spend much of your time with her so she is not so lonely.

Give lots of love & attention. If she starts to look sad when you're around, start dangling toys in front of her. Give her treats too. Use a nice, soothing tone with her.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. She's just a little depressed right now. Just be there for her.

It is very common in cats that this happens. They either pull out of it or they don't. Just try to sit and pet her as much as possible to show your support. I hope she pulls through.

She is grieving over his loss and needs your attention right now. Just spend as much time as you can with her, play with her, cuddle with her and give her some special treats, hopefully she will come around.
