Fluid on my knee?

What will my Dr. do for this? It isn't painful, just uncomfortable. I can barely walk because I cannot fully extend my leg forwards or backwards. I can't stand straight on my leg.

Mostlikely the Dr will give you NSAIDS and he'll ask you to ice your knee a few times a day for 20 minutes each. If you have ALOT of fluid in your nkee, he'll probably drain it, which means he'll have to put a needle in your knee. I've heard that It may hurt like Hell, and i've also heard that it doesn't hurt too much. It depends on the person and how the dr is doing it. Good luck

This condition is called Bursitis. There is a small sac above the patella (knee cap) called the Bursa it's filled with a lubricating liquid that minimizes friction between body tissues that constantly move by each other. Bursa are found near joints. If the Bursa is irritated by pressure over it or by injury the sac becomes inflamed and fills with liquid.

To help heal faster, keep your leg straight and elevate it. Apply ice and take an anti-inflammatory ( ibuprofen).

If the doctor has to remove the fluid, He uses a needle. It sounds worse than what it really is. I had it done two years ago. After you do this he will put an Ace bandage around it, put a brace on you leg and you'll hop around on crutches for a week or so. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon!

The gelatinous fluid that builds up in your knee is caused by the body's natural defense to protect itself. You have something within the knee that is causing this to happen. It may be temporary if you just injured your knee, but usually if you have minicus damage or some other underlying cause, If the knee is drained (via needle) and it is an injury, then odds are the fluid will not come back, but if you have damage to the knee, the body will reprotect itself and build more fluid in your knee. I would suggest that you get and Xray or MRI of the knee to see what's going on.

You might get a brace of some sort and if your problem is bad enough you might need surgery. But i am not a doctor so I do not know for sure.

Quick, elevate it above your heart and apply ice. Then go to www.webmd.com and do a search. Hope you feel better.
