What is the cost to you, to listen to your heart?

Follow your heart, they say.

But do you know

the contents of your own heart?

How do you know the heart is free?

A heart that says, follow me,

I will protect you,

I will make you safe,

you will be loved,

you will be admired.

This heart is muddled in fear

and slave to ego.

Follow it nowhere.

A heart that says to you

Follow me if you choose

I will show you wonder

To open you to all of creation.

I will show you beauty,

and joy and laughter.

I will bring you peace within the storm.

I will show you the perfection in chaos.

I will teach you how to honor yourself

and how to honor your other selves.

I will bring you hope

from the core of your being

so that you may learn to love.

I will bring you freedom

that you may choose to love.

I will bring you all these things

and set them before you.

And I will tell you that you must choose them

every moment of every day

for the rest of your life.

If your heart says these things to you,

follow it to the ends of the earth

follow it beyond the stars

follow it into the mind and heart of God.

For that is where it will lead.

The cost to me could be heartbreak, the beauty of a simple heart is even if you get heartbroken, you have enough love to continue to listen to your heart.

Not even your mother and father will counsel you as well as your heart does.This is a saying in some communities.But I have found the heart most deceitful.Whims and the ego direct it to one's peril.I agree with the answer which quotes the book of Jeremiah.Follow not your heart,lest it deceiveth you.

The heart is part of a unified human expression, which must have it's emotion added to intuition, intellect, and then shaped and guided by the spirit, to a perfected and tempered outpouring.

It means you want to be loved & to love. No amount of money in the world compares to a heart that loves

We are so scared that our heart can be broken that we do not really want to take any risks. I think it is a great thing to listen to our heart, but listen also other people's hearts.
