I have heard that it does as well. I don't know the facts, but this is a persistant myth if nothing else.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be growing at least a little. According to a website I visited while looking up info for this answer, the human body stops growing around the age of 16 for girls, and 18 or older for boys. This may also be why you're an adult when you're 18, but I'm not sure about that. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure that GH, the hormone that stimulates growth, has little to do with musle growth except for to make your muscles equal in proportion as your body grows. So all you were doing is making yourself a little healthier and stronger.

For younger children, lower weights with more reps, then increase as yor strength improves. No word on this site of growth stunting. Check it out.

Unfortunately, you have two options here and its... you can be short and inshape or short and out of shape. You have the oppurtunity to start teaching your muscles to grow and remain at your age that will benifit you for the rest of your life. Also muscles have memory, so it will be easier for you to build stronger and more prominent muscles in the future if you stay in the gym now.

well you realy need a trainer to have good lifting tech. if you arent lifting right can harm you in ways you wouldnt think i had a trainer he was tough when i wasnt doing something right be carefull do youre streches before starting if you have a stationary bike ride that for 20 to 30 min. before youre work out

I would say "no" and that is because my son is in his teens and he has always grown very poorly (due to a medical condition) but his specialists have always recommended that he work out with weights.
You just want to be careful and not over due it.
If you're doing too much, believe me your body will tell you :)

Yes..This is true to an extent.....When you lift more weights over your head it really affects your body....It was advised to me by the Gym trainer that people are not advised to try heavy weights over their head below 20 yrs of age......

Yes. School children are advised not to carry heavy bags because it would hinder their growth. That's why stroller bags for kids are invented.
