Bad hamstrings?

I have bad hamstrings. Is there any way to correct this. I have pulled both of them 5 or more times. A couple of times really bad. I have larger than average legs and to work out and do leg exercises, but I still fear pulling them. I am a bit overweight. I know they feel better when I lose weight. For instance I have recently lost 15 lbs and feel comfortable running faster than I have previously. I do exercise them, but not as often as I should. I just quit whatever I am doing if I feel a bit of tightness in them. I do play football and baseball. I guess my question is: Will my hamstrings ever feel like I have no fear of pulling them. Once in awhile I get to that point and then I decide to run full speed and I pull it again.

Update:

I weigh 230 lbs. I always stretch before I do any activity. About 10 years ago I was into powerlifting and I have fairly large legs. About 5 years ago I was more into running. I lost alot of weight, but my legs are still fairly big.

Make sure you are hydrating, and also add potassium to your diet, you lose that when working muscles. If this doesn't help, you may want to look into exercises with a lower impact, but more for toning, this will help your hamstrings, and should also relieve the pain.

make sure you are 'warming up' first. There are many exercises that you can do to slowly stretch them allowing for more extension. Go by your local physical therapist and ask them for a list of exercises to stretch the hamstring. Also remember that it can take up to 6 months for the injury to heal.

You have too much body toxins. Go get some detoxification massages should help. Your muscles may be fusing together from the same reason. When your muscles is too strong and too tight, your muscle became shorter than your bone; massage, massage and massage! Source: www.energymassagecenter.com
