Some girly things for my 8 yr old?

What do you suggest? She hates bratz; anything else would be ok.

Get her something she can do on her own or with you or her friends. Let her explore her creative side. Klutz makes an outstanding line of activity, game and exploration books that should keep her interest, help her written comprehension, and teach her a craft at the same time. More important, she won't grow out of them and she can use them in the car, at home or just about anywhere else. I'd advise you to stay away from toys like Webkinz because they're a fad. Yeah, they may be popular now, but can you really imagine her playing with Webkinz 2-3 years from now? It's amazing to me that people will spend a small fortune on something that will probably end up in the trash in a couple of years, but they won't invest the same money in quality books for their children that can actually teach them something useful. Besides, she might craft a small business selling the wares she learns to make from one or more of the books. Also, they will give her something constructive to do with her time, rather than sit in front of the television or computer monitor. I have personally given many Klutz books as gifts and I have bought several others to use in my work as an educator/childcare provider.

You can find the books at most Barnes & Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks, and B. Dalton booksellers, or you can order the books directly from Klutz.com. I encourage you to browse the site. You're bound to find something that will make a great gift. Please invest in your child's future by investing in her education now.
