Do you express your opinions to your congressman or senator ?
Most of us feel one way or another on an issue but do you bother to tell your elected representatives how you feel ? Your representatives need your input to better represent you in Washington.

That's a good way to collect a stack of standardized letters sent by staff members over the elected employee's printed signature.
That is one of the biggest problems today, people in office rely on polls and consultants and have no real connection to the voters. Hence many good solutions (and many more bad ones) are never considered at all.

I write letters to plenty of Senators recently, especially keeping up with mine, I also send my Senators and Representative e-mails and sign alot of petitions on-line and otherwise. More people need to be doing this or Congress will not have a clue what is going on in real life. We have to help get this country back to the way our leaders wanted back when the U.S. Constitution was made. For the people and by the people is how it should be, not the modern day corrupt type of politics we see now. Let yours and my voices as well as others be heard amongst the rhetoric. No one should be afraid to speak up for what this country is supposed to be.

I regularly send mail to my Congressman and my Senators.
I always receive a reply and in some cases I have received direct calls from the Chief of Staff and have received fantastic support.
I think the biggest key is to understand that they have a very busy job too and it is a challenge to balance the needs of all the people that are obligated to represent. I've seen some of the letters received in Congress and they really take on the tone of "crackpot." Why would you expect to get a "real" response from that? Take time to write a respectful letter and you will receive a respectful response.
I've also seen letters from people who issue opinions about how something should be done in the government with a clear lack of understanding of even the most basic Article I or Article II concepts in the framework of the Constitution. The government is "of the People" and we are therefore obligated as citizens to be educated in the basics of how the government is intended to operate. Our ancestors all did.

We would prefer a new speaker of the house that can stand and defend the
oppressions of the white house. We need somebody who are not intimidated by the bulying of the white house for the good of the country
and the people. representative should not be zeeped always and not a
cry baby.

Yes. I call and email both my Senators and Congressman at least once every quarter. I let all 3 of them have it on the immigration bill (all three support it).

Yes I do. I emailed my representatives about the immigration bill and recieved an answer from one of them. It was Durbin in Illinois and Obama has not given me a reply.

Yes I do , as often as I can
. Sometimes they aren't as polite as they could be , but I still call .
Maybe if I had a Corporate name behind me and lots of money , I would get more attention .
Most of the time I believe they don't listen and have their own agenda .
Don't give up , keep trying .
Close the BORTERS , NOW !!!!!

isn't Conyers a Democrat? LOL! Democrats activate one yet another, as envisioned. whats up, in spite of each and every thing the time they spend criticizing Bush, no one could be asserting Democrats will not be able to criticize the president.

I think you a little too optimistic, If politicians cared what we thought the immigration bill would be a non issue, 70% of americans dont want it, yet it continues, party politics and lobbyists are the only ones out polititions listen to.

Yes, I have emailed Senator Carl Levin on several occasions, and he has graciously taken the time to respond thrice....He's a good man who really tries to be an accountable positive influence on this country. I'm proud of him...
