Does anyone here get heartburn? If so, what from? And what're some ways to get rid of it quickly?
Haha wow, great answer jcprn1. I get it from chicken and tuna, sometimes apples and pineapples, and pecans. I hate eating chicken at school though because when I tell a teacher that I've got heartburn they probably think I'm trying to weasel my way out of class.

Boy, who doesn't get heartburn? Everyone I know uses one thing or another. First, it is very individual...meaning, what gives me heartburn, or GERD (as the Docs call it),(Means...gastro-esophageal reflux disease),...might not bother anyone else. And, vice-versa. I have a friend that actually gets heartburn from milk! And another that swears that ONLY WHOLE milk will take her heartburn away. My Mom used to use Ginger Ale,...but that usually only works for very mild indigestion, or heartburn, but is a good remedy for children, rather than chemicals.(First, get rid of the 'fizz'...shake the bottle, and remove the cap, and let it 'fizz out') Also, you can check with someone in a natural food store, because ginger root is used for indigestion as well. I personally have found ROLAIDS to be about the best tasting and fastest working. Almost all the Over-the-counter anti-acids work about the same,...using simethicone to neutralize the excess acid. If you get it at the same time every day, and from the same food, STOP eating that food! (duh!!) But, realistically, if everything bothers you, it could be anxiety,...tying your guts in a knot! I take a Zantac 75mg. each morning, and usually don't have any trouble after that.Buy generic...it's about 1/2 the price, and works just as well.BUT, if it persists,.. happens at night,.. on an empty stomach, and/or there is stomach pain as well, SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!! It could be gastritis, an ulcer, etc.,etc. And, just treating the symptoms is not always the best course to take. I have had a ulcer, and the pain is no fun. But, I also had the tests, so I know the difference between simple over-eating, eating badly, or brewing something potentially dangerous. Good Luck!! Feel better!!!

I get it because I'm pregnant, and I don't think that's your problem, but a fast reliver is antacid tablets such as tum's. You can get them anywhere they sell cough syrup or aspirin basically. They only take a few seconds to work.
