I finished grad school at 45 and had absolutely no trouble getting a job. You may want to start out by taking one or two classes your first semester, but once you've gotten back into school mode I'd go full-time so that you're done as soon as possible. If you can, get a part-time job or at least do an internship while in school. The more real world experience you graduate with, the more quickly you will be hired. Network! Join professional organizations (which usually have less expensive memberships for students), go to conferences, etc. (also, often lower rates for students or free if you volunteer). As long as you're focused on being as employable as possible when you graduate, there will be opportunities. Good luck!

You did not say which type of engineering degree. Truth is, there is a lot of age discrimination in engineering. It may depend on whether or not you can leverage past experience and professional contacts. Are you willing to work overseas, esp. the Middle East? If so, look at chemical, civil or petroleum engineering. Avoid electrical engineering- it's the worst for age discrimination. Environmental engineering may have possibilities as well- try to talk to practising engineers. Good luck....

Nope. If Sue can do it so can you. It's a matter of having the will.
Sue Miller, a senior at Louisiana College is not your typical student. In fact, Sue will celebrate her birthday on Tuesday, March 13th by getting fitted for her graduation cap and gown. This is a special birthday for Sue; she will turn 73 years old on March 13th which means she will be the oldest person to graduate from Louisiana College during its entire 100 year history.

You're never too old. My mother was in her early 40's when she went back to school. She actually graduated college the year after I graduated high school!

You are never too old to learn. The question is, will any company hire you?
I am not trying to rain on your parade, but unless you are going back to school for the sake of knowledge, the ultimate goal is to find a job.
Dear Pag. What is your major? (just curious).

Go for it, heck if you can it'll be fun too.
