1 AnswerMartial Arts5 months agoDMM or a Oscilloscope or both?
I'm thinking seriously about building a
guitar amp and later a Hi-Fi amp via kits I've researched online.
Is an Oscilloscope necessary for a build or will a decent DMM work just as well? Keep in mind I'm not designing circuits, only building them from proven plans.

3 AnswersPorsche6 years agoHot weather and turbochargers ? I'm thinking turbochargers might not be an ideal setup for cars in the South. Any thoughts or comments?
I remember seeing a segment with Tanner Foust in a 911 Turbo filmed in California.
The crew wound up filming at night as during the day, the hot weather robbed the 911 of power.
I'm thinking turbochargers might not be an ideal setup for cars in the South.
Any thoughts or comments?

3 AnswersOther - Outdoor Recreation7 years agoWindows 8.1 update disabled wireless network adapter?
I purchased a new computer running Windows 8. It came with a built-in wireless network adapter which was working fine until I upgraded to 8.1. Now no Internet, I have received error code 43, and there is a yellow exclamation point on the adapter in the Device Manager.
Fortunately, I had two USB wireless adapters from previous computers and I installed the newest on my new computer, so I have Internet but not with the built in adapter.
I know this is a common problem and I have updated the driver only to have the error code and
yellow ! appear again.
Any solution that repairs my built-in wireless adapter will be appreciated.

1 AnswerOther - General Health Care7 years agoCountry music guitar?
Country music has some of the best guitar players around, however, since I have not traditionally listened to country music, I don't know where to start, that is what albums to buy.
I know Brad Paisley and Keith Urban are very good. If i could get recommendations as to BP and KU's album(s) and anyone else that is worth listening to, I'd be a happy (happier) man.
Thanks for your help.

1 AnswerRap and Hip-Hop7 years agoDriving a large amp with a small amp?
This is hardly a new concept. Dave Davies of the Kinks was doing this in 1964;(see guitargeek dot com)
But, I don't know the details. The picture shows a 10 watt (Elpico 1x10 combo) with a cable running from it's speaker output into a VoxAC30 at, I assume, the guitar input?
How would one match the load (4,8,16 ohms?), that is which load are you most concerned with -output/input/both, and is the cable running to the guitar input?
Thanks.
1 AnswerOther - Music8 years agoNEW GUITAR TRAVELING CROSS-COUNTRY IN BACK OF TRACTOR-TRAILER?
Help. being the cheap sob's they are, the company I purchased a guitar from ( Epi LP Tribute, if this matters) decided, as they did not have one in stock on east coast, to truck the guitar across country from Reno,NV for a FOUR day trip to my house.
Given that guitars and heat don't mix too well, any advice on how the guitar should be handled?
1 AnswerPhysics8 years agoRemember a song that was used movies made during...?
Remember a song that was used movies (circa late 50's and up to the mid-sixties) to introduce or accompany actresses in "stripper" roles?
The piece, no pun intended, is heavy on horns and drums-especially trombones and floor toms/bass drums. I believe the intro is drums for a couple of bars, then the trombones and trumpets kicked in.
The title and or composer will be a big help.
Thanks.
1 AnswerOther - Music8 years agoFinding one's "true voice"?
We ,my friends and I, were talking the other day about finding one's true voice when singing.
We are amateur musicians and some of us attempt singing, but we are usually trying to sound like the singer of the original song instead of the singer who is singing.
Which brings us to the current topic. How does one find one's voice, the voice one should be singing with instead of trying to imitate someones else.
Is there a point in training where one knows one is singing as an individual as opposed to an imitator?
I hope I'm describing the concept well enough for someone to answer.
(c) If not let me know where the problem lies and I'll do my best to edify. (A rhyme. Don't steal it, it's copyrighted.)
4 AnswersSinging8 years agoamplifier protection when playing live?
Every guitar player cringes at the thought of some clown spilling a drink on his amp or even placing a drink on the amp and leaving rings.
Anyone know of a preventive measure, device, whatever that can prevent or at least lesson the damage
from careless people or even band members?
