How do I play a PAL disc in a NTSC DVD player?

My player is a Hitachi DVD-RAM for region 1, but does not see the PAL disc is inserted.

PAL is not Region 1, it's europe. You can either get a dvd player that plays multiple regions or have it reformatted to NTSC. A PAL dvd has fewer frames per second than a NTSC dvd. it needs to be reformatted (if it's copyrighted material you won't be able to) to match Region 1 timecodes.

    You don't.

In Europe the main power line supplies 230 volts at 50 hertz.

In American the main power lines supply 110 volts at 60 hertz.

These two standards are much closer and easier to adapt to than the PAL and NTSC standards.

The PAL TV signal is wider than the American NTSC system. You won't receive all the color information or the sound because the NTSC TV will think that is on a different channel. The only way you can view a PAL signal is with a PAL TV. If you try to view a PAL signal on a NTSC TV then you will get a static filled black and white image with no sound, only static. I know I was in Europe and I did it. I had to buy a PAL TV to watch local programming. There are some expensive players designed to play both standards, but those are special order items and rarely sold in the US.

Your PAL disc is as useless to your NTSC DVD player as a NTSC DVD would be on a PAL player. The two are like apples and acorns with very little in common.

PAL and NTSC only refers to video systems (ie. VHS.), and as such does not refer to DVD formats (which use different regions such as region 1, or 2 or 3 etc.) You could either get a multi-region DVD player or, conversely if you are in the know, re-chip and reconvert your present DVD player to multi play...you may need the help of an electrician!

region 0 is an unofficial dvd region, a disc that has no assigned section for playback - that's ntsc or buddy. If the discs you're thinking procuring are labelled as ntsc region 0 (that's in general recognized as 'region unfastened' or international properly matched), then on a fashionable buddy dvd participant its very possibly that they are going to play without problems - except your buddy participant is amazingly previous, and became synthetic as buddy to be offered in a pal section (no longer very undemanding). interior the uncommon case of your dvd participant refusing to play region 0 ntsc discs, yet is unlocked and can play all different areas of disc, then you will possibly could try utilising yet another participant. As region 0 isn't an real region, an extremely small volume might in basic terms know areas a million to eight. observe that there is likewise a 'region ALL' which has all 8 region tags on disc, permitting the disc to definately play on all gamers. some internet sellers might confusingly state region 0 whilst they actually recommend 'region all'. in case your participant wont play something different than region 2 buddy, then you ought to attempt to discover the launch code to your participant as a final motel. My first hyperlink shows web content that have codes for various fashions of gamers, and publications on a thank you to go into them-all you frequently want is the kind and sort style of your participant. do exactly no longer forget that your buddy dvd participant is possibly offered around the globe, and is subsequently additionally ntsc, yet locked by way of the producer to in basic terms play buddy discs. maximum gamers are unlockable by way of shifting right into some numbers on show screen. i could in simple terms choose for it and purchase the discs, as you're able to be waiting to definitely stumble on a participant that's properly matched.

What you need is a master electrician!

"I hate it when folks refer to me as an electrician" ed.

The certitude of some of the answers you got seems to be inversely proportional to their correctness! I suspect a red herring...
