How do you tell if someone is lying?

ok, so I just started seeing this guy and he's really nice to me but he comes out with some really far fetched stories and at first I kinda beleieved them but the stories seem to be getting more and more elaborate and now when he speaks I can barely listen cos Im just laughing inside my head thinking 'liar!'

How do I know if its truth or lies?

Look at his body language, and his facial micro-expressions.

Sometimes people are just masters at lying, though, so even these signs may not be telltales.

Try to remember exact details from a story he tells you (like date, size, smell, color, name) and ask him a question about the story a week later, changing something in the sequence.

Like, "Remember that blonde who drove that mustang you were telling me about?"

When he actually had said something about a brunette driving a camaro (just for a really lame example!!!!)

See if his story changes... then call him out on it if so.

He may just be a really interesting person with true crazy stories... seems everyone Ive met with stories like that have been lying though :-P

    the eyes will tell you.

In all but the most pathological and experienced liars, the eyes will always look away to the left and slightly up if it's a lie.

If it's the truth, you get more direct eye contact, and if they look away remembering a detail, they will look to the right and slightly down.

Try this and see, don't tell people, just watch which way they look, liars are easy to spot.

Remember, right is right, left is lie.

stick it out for a couple weeks...he can run but he can't HIDE forever. haha. Ive had that SAME exact experience...except the guy was jus humorous and liked to spice up his stories a lil bit till we really started getting to know each other and it wore off. he turned out to be really honest and talks 'normal' now. Sometimes its like a guys lil' mechanism they do. i cant explain it or why. Its not harmful..

but if his stories are crazy/too emotional... i think thatd give u hints about his personality.

You already know the truth. Your little voice inside is telling you that something is wrong. Listen to your gut.

If you still need proof, then meet his family. When you are with them say wow he told me how he.....and watch their reaction. You will have your proof.

You deserve someone that is truthful. Good luck!

There is an old psychological thing that goes like this. You recall events thru your right side of your brain, and you do creative things like lie thru the left side of your brain. The next time he is telling you one of these stories watch his head and his eyes. if he keeps moving his head or his eyes to the right, he is trying to recall events or accessing that part of the brain. if he keeps looking to the left he is accessing the creative brain or lying. It really does work.

Watch the eyes. The eyes will move different places for recalling and creating information. For instance if you ask him what he had for breakfast that is recalling information. His eyes will move one way. If you ask him what we would do on a perfect date, that is creating information and his eyes will move the other way. So When he is doing his story ask him a question about it. "SO where did you go for dinner after this magical dragon hunt." Eyes move to the recall side, Truth. Eyes move to creating side, false.

If the stories are far fetch and are conflictions. If he cant prove anthing. Then yes I would say he was leing. Does he studder or look you in your face when talking?

Ask him for some proof, but in an indirect way.

Say he says that someone did something. Then ask him that sounds interesting and the next time that you come over you want to meet them.

When people lie, they usually look to the left.

when they are telling the truth they look the right, because the right side of your brain is the side you use for remembering stories or memories.

the left side is used for makig up stuff and using your minddd

pausing suggesting he is creating a story. Or if he looks up and to his right or left then looks at you and tells it to your face. you know hes telling you the truth when he answers into your eyes and doesnt pause for a long time.
