I have many health issuses ranging from Chronic pain , caused bry a car accident 6 years ago, for which I take Morphine daily - through to being a type 2 Diabetic (due to being morbidly obese) - before the accident I weighed 71 kg, after the accident my weight at my heaviest was 147kg, I had my gallbladder and my Myrena IUD removed and lost 63kg in under 4 months, I've since had another Myrena IUD inserted and have gained over 24kg, my sugar levels are really high with readings between 26.4 - 9.3, I have NO appertite, my Dr won't believe me that I'm NOT OVER EATING ! I've even had my husband try to explaine to our Dr that I don't eat, due to my pain issues I am some what restricted with excerise, but I do walk each day for 45 minutes - which now gives me chest pain, On top of all this I am going through a very early change of life, my blood pressure rises with pain, I'm only 35 years old, if I don't lose a lot of weight, I'm at risk of 1 in 4 chances of having a stroke or heart attack.

Allot of med's can cause weight gain.

there are things to help speed up your system.

eat something small every two hours while awake

and you need to get moving.

exercising in a therapy pool will help

these pools are heated and most have poles in them to hang onto the pools also have different levels so you can be in water that is three feet to five feet deep. The steps going into them are gradual or they have a ramp so anyone can get into them

they usually only cost a couple of dollars per session

the water takes all of the pressure off of your body

it helps most people with the pain that they are in.

Most medication to treat diabetes will put weight on

the only one that does not is metphomin (Canadian name)

Hi Yvette! You have some pretty serious problems that need immediate addressing. First, your weight gain may be caused in part by the daily morphine. It's extremely addictive and it also slows the metabolism down dramatically. If you have taken Avandia for the diabetes, that could explain some of your weight gain. I gained 65 pounds in 5 months on Avandia before I realized it and stopped taking it. I couldn't seem to get the weight off.

If you walk every day, then I would suggest the Macrobiotic Diet. It is very strict, but there have been amazing cures from following it. I will include a website for you so that you can read some of the testimonials from other people who have been on the diet. You'll need to find a Macrobiotic counselor near you that can advise you and help you with your diet plan, which you can find on the Kushi Institute website. It sounds like your digestive tract may have shut down temporarily which makes you feel as if you aren't hungry. Your body has so much other stuff to deal with that it makes it almost impossible to lose weight. Many of these people on the testimonials have lost weight, cured cancer, and various other maladies. I know that my cholesterol levels went down, I lost 56 pounds and I feel better than I've felt in years. Nameless aches and pains are gone and my body moves better than it did when I was in my 20's!

I must assume that you live in another country since you are being weighed in kg. I'm in the U.S., but I know that Macrobiotics has made it around the world. You can get Michio Kushi's books online and I'll include some titles for you. I would further suggest that you have the IUD removed, since it appears that it may be causing an hormonal upset for you. Find another way to keep you from getting pregnant. Prophylactics work well and they don't cause any side effects.

I sincerely hope this gets you onto the road to recovery, I am alarmed for you and your condition. Keep me posted!

Birth control can cause weight gain. You should see a physical therapist to see what exercises you can do with your pain and they may be able to give you some suggestions on exercises to help with the chronic pain, which will help decrease the need for the narcotics. Depression could be a big factor in the weight gain. It may not be how much you are eating, it could be what you are eating. You might try swimming, it is less strenuous on the body and great cardio workout! Good Luck.

find a different doctor. My sister is type 1 and she can't control her blood sugars. She sees doctors who tell her how to control it but when she does what they say, her sugars get even worse and the doctors accuse her of sneaking candy or not following what they say. Doctors aren't always right. You should find one that will listen to you and believe what you say. It's your body, not theirs and nobody knows it better than you!!

Talk with your doctor and have your thyroid levels checked. If you're on any steroids, they can cause weight gain.

This is just a guess but maybe one or more of you medicines are steroids or steroid based like prednisone. Hope this helps.
