How may I get some relief from arthritis that affects my hands?

When I awaken, my fingers, especially on one hand, are very stiff. Although they loosen somewhat during the day, I would like to find a way to relieve the pain and stiffness. By the way, I prefer not to use any medications at this time.

If you don't want to use medications consider homeopathic (natural) remedies, in particular arnica gel (made from the arnica montana flower extract) helps with inflammation (arth= joint, itis=inflammation) and a broader based homeopathic cream made in Germany by the name of Traumeel/Traumed (depending on where you get it). It's not "cheap" but definitely worth it. You can find them at your better health food/vitamin shops or at vitaminshoppe.com

Originally recommended to me by my doctor more than 10 years ago, everyone I have ever turned on to this stuff (including my arthritic fingered pianist mom) is amazed at how well it works, and you only need to apply/use it or arnica when you have symptoms.

My mother has arthritis and has not been able to make a fist or open her hands all the way for about a year. She just started on a vitamin supplement called Replenix. She can now make a fist, open her hands and actually use her hands. She and I have been amazed with the results. If you would like more information please message me.

Before bedtime Take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts. Soak for 30 minutes. The Epsom salts will help reduce the stiffness.

Massage an analgesic cream into the sore muscles. I find the best cream for pain is “Blue Emu,” You can read more about this cream at http://www.blue-emu.com/

Dehydration Is one of the major causes of arthritic pain. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day.

500mg of calcium and magnesium, taken twice daily, can help with diminishing the pain.
