Should we demand from Congress that pork (pet project spending) be voted on their own merits.?

We should DEMAND the end of earmarks in Congress. As long as Congress can attach these pork projects anomomously there is NO incentive to spend responsibly. Some of the projects are so ridiculous and wasteful, its pathetic. An example that comes to mind is the "bridge to nowhere" google it.

Usually it works like this...I am approached by a law maker to support a law that I feel make little sense. I must be persuaded to vote and they offer me an incentive but for me to go along other Representatives will vote with me in their favor for exchange you will include my stupid bill. It is done and a bunch of stupid legislation passes. It brings my constituents money and they are happy but the rest of us just think it is a rip off. No law would be better than this.

  • No. We should simply demand a constitutional amendment allowing a line item veto for budgetary matters so the President of the United States can veto pork products.

Great idea. Probably impossible to pass given who is in Congress.

No, they should be banned outright. Why are we paying for such things like that anyways? Was painting an Alaskan airline (cost 500,000) to look like a salmon REALLY necessary?
