  • Obsession Radical Islam?

A DVD called Obsession was distributed with many newspaper this last Sunday. The CD discusses radical Islam. Some people seem to think that a newspaper has no business distributing this as a paid advertisement. What do you think? YES or NO

  • should snitching be a bad thing?

I hate the word "snitch" because it seems to have a very negative connotation. Many people seem to think you are a bad person for telling on some one. I think it is time that if a person sees a crime or knows of a crime he should be respected for coming forth with what ever information he has. If

that person wishes to remain anonomous that is also okay. If authorities have the leads, they can then gather the hard evidence. This would be most helpful in identifing gang violence, especially in schools.

  • Would you support a bipartisan third party?

Mayor Bloomberg with support from a number of repubicans and democrats is proposing a third political party. Given the dismal results of our current Congress, in fighting, bickering, self interests, is it time for major change. I would support it if the platform was to promote the interests of the Country rather than state and personal interests. Second platform, get rid of earmarks for special projects, if the project can't stand on its own merits, it has no business being paid for with public money. Third platform, no legislation that takes effect through non action (example: current Congress pay raises take effect unless Congress votes no), this is pitiful ledgislation. I think we are overdue for political reform.

  • Should an employer be allowed to require English on the job?

It seems that what most people would call a no brainer, is being called into question. (a job that does not require translation or bilingual skills). As an employer I determine the qualifications and skills required for MY job. If you fail to maintain the these requirements YOUR GONE, simple, apparently not so. Check out this soundbyte from www.ipi.org

Should Employers Be Allowed to Require English on the Job?

The Institute for Policy Innovation’s Dr. Merrill Matthews says not if the federal government has its way.

The federal government has decided that the Salvation Army, one of the most diverse employers in the country, is discriminating.

John Fund of the Wall Street Journal reports that one of the Salvation Army thrift stores, based in Massachusetts, is requiring that its employees speak English on the job. The store posted the requirement and gave employees a year to learn English.

But when the store let go two Hispanic employees for continuing to speak Spanish, the federal government sued, saying that an English-only policy wasn’t relevant to job performance or safety.

Several members of Congress are echoing that message.

But what the government’s doing is turning speaking Spanish into a civil right. It’s a bad precedent. Just because an employer’s pro-English doesn’t mean he’s anti-Spanish?

  • Do you think Harry Reid should write another letter to Rush's boss.?

A lot of people will benifit from the first letter, Rush proved to be a much bigger man than Harry Reid by matching the bid price. Reid actually had the nerve to claim some sort of credit for the donation.

  • Would you support an effort to clean house in Congress, no incumbant elected?

Since Congress is held in such low esteem, deservedly so. As evidenced almost daily by their lack of common sense, disregard for the will of the people that elected them, and catering to their own agendas rather than what is right for the nation. Leadership is elusive in Congress as evidenced by the pitiful performance of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Congress just does not get it. We could do no worse with a clean house.

  • Should the John Doe provision in the Homeland security Bill stay in the bill?

The “John Doe” provision protects citizens who in good faith report suspicious activity to authorities. The case of the six Muslim clerics removed from a flight comes to mind. These people created suspicion with deliberate actions that warranted reporting. Praying loudly and praising Allah in public, no luggage, moving from assigned seats, asking for seat belt extender when not required. It appears they were testing peoples sensibilities in what might be reported. Now the airline and John Doe passengers are being sued. Any reasonable person would have had a hard time ignoring this behavior. Removing the John Doe protection will stop other good citizens from reporting such activity and greatly impact what our government asks of its citizens "report suspicious activity" Some Senators want it removed, if you think it needs to stay email your Senator. Another good reason why Congress has no public respect.

  • Should we demand from Congress that pork (pet project spending) be voted on their own merits.?

We should DEMAND the end of earmarks in Congress. As long as Congress can attach these pork projects anomomously there is NO incentive to spend responsibly. Some of the projects are so ridiculous and wasteful, its pathetic. An example that comes to mind is the "bridge to nowhere" google it.

  • Do you agree that the following is good comparison to the illegal immigration problem?

SAY I BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials

in ages!!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

    Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder

to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest

(except for when I broke into your house).

    According to the protesters:

You are Required to let me stay in your house You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan You are Required to Educate my kids You are Required to provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your

house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me. And don't forget to make sure your forms are in MY language - I need to understand them...

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America .

  • Muslim Imans (priests) taken off US Air flight. Justified?

Do you think the airline was justified by removing six Imans (priests). Reports have it that they said their prayers in public, praising Allah, some had one way tickets, some had no luggage, did not sit together. Given past events I think they were more than justified, if something would have happened the airline would have been demonised for not acting. It is unfortunate that we have to act like this. I would prefer better safe than sorry and congratulate the people involved in making a GOOD decision. I read that these Imans wanted Muslims to boycott US Air, I would say that would be a good thing based on history. US Air would be airline of choice for travel.

  • Who is Islams equal to the Pope?

We have heard from all the radicals to kill the Pope for his words, where are the so called true holy men of Islam. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places but many websites seem to confirm, with references, Islams intolerance for anyone that does not believe. This site is a good example of the intolerance demonstrated by Muslims worldwide http://www.flex.com/~jai/satyamevajayate/index.htm... can some one provide a link reaffirming Islams supposed peaceful nature. Please no BS this is not for venting.
