Cost of putting my cat down?

Our cat is 14 years old and she has lately been ill.... Her nose always bleeds and she doesn't eat very well and has also been suffering from "the runs".... Tonight we also realised she has a possible broken right leg.... Before I take her to a vet tomorrow, I was just wondering roughly what it would cost to have her peacefully put to sleep??

Any help would be much appreciated...

Most vet places (if you have been a customer there before) will put your animal down at no cost. I would check around and call a few local vet clinics and see what they offer and for how much. It usually isnt much, about 30.00 or so if they do charge. I have had to get an animal put down before.....not a good feeling. But do check around, 30.00 isnt really much knwing that your animal is no longer suffering!! Good Luck!!

Probably depends on the vet. I had a stray cat come up to my house and after feeding him he would return a few times a week eat and then leave. After this went on for about a year he came up one night and had been hit by a car. I rushed him to the vet and was told he had a broken hip and the only way to fix it would be having an expensive surgery. Being a singly mother or 2 girls and raising my brother I wasn't able to spend that kind of money. Therefore, I paid $15 to have him put to sleep. I didn't realize how attatched I was to this animal til that day! It shouldn't be much though. Try taking yours to the local humane society also. Around here they do a lot of things way cheaper than a vet would.

You are going to make her lay there all night with a broken leg and IN PAIN??

What is wrong with you people. You should have taken her to an emergency vet, an after hours vet, or a shelter where it could be done at once.

    Expect to pay 20-60 USD.

On-the-spot euthanasia generally costs significantly more than scheduled euthanasia, usually because vet clinics want to make sure it's not a spur of the moment choice. Expect a scheduled euth to cost $30-65 and an on-the-spot euth to run closer to $100.

Euthanasia on it's own should cost about $60.00.

You can ask for your pet back for a private burial at home. My vet allows his clients to do that if they choose.

A cremation where you will want the ashes back will cost more than a group cremation. Those prices you will have to discuss with your vets office. Private cremation will cost relatively more than a group cremantion (where many animals are cremated at once and you will not get the ashes back).

    Prayers to you.

It depends on the weight of your cat because most vets charge by how many CC's of medication it will take which is determined by the animals weight. Then its depends on if they make arrangements for your cat or if you make them. You could call the vet and they will be able to give you a price. Hope this helps.

Well, when my beloved cat was dying from feline leukemia last year, I put her down and my vet only charged me $25. Granted , I live in the Midwest, so this is probably cheaper than either of the coasts, but I also didn't have her cremated. The kids and I wanted to bury her in our back yard. Sorry 'bout your kitty...never any easy thing to do....

Around here I was thinking it was something, just a guess, like sixty dollars. Not for sure though. By the way, sorry about your cat. It sucks when you have to put down a pet. :(

i will not say because try to help our cat first then if there's no other way then i suggest you do it if it's a long, slow, and painful sickness than a short, fast, and painful sickness then do it, but it is about $70 or $65 to do it.email if you need someone to talk to about it
