2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS - Overfilled Oil?

Stick a vacuum suction down the dipstick and remove the excess oil. You can then use the pump for your future oil changes without the hassle of draining and spilling the oil everywhere. How many quarts did you overfill by? It really depends on how much more you put in. A bit won't hurt but over a quart may cause the oil to foam and seals to expands and eventually leak if not resolved.

If you haven't changed your oil filter than you can try changing it but don't fill it with oil. the excess you overfilled it with will drop your level. If it is still to high after you crank it then repeat the step until your level is at the correct level. That would be the easiest with out having to drop the front of your oil pan to drain it out. If you can't get the drain plug out, then remove the oil filter and drain the oil out of it. You could also take it to a oil change place and let them get the drain plug loose and drain the oil out. they might do it for free if they aren't busy, so try and find a time when they are slow. good luck.

Just start'er up for a minute. Shut it off & remove the oil filter. If ya dump the filter, that'll probly be enuff to put it on the full line.
