Difference between Mormons and Jehovah's Witness?

What's the difference between Mormons & Jehovah's Witness are they the same group? Do you know any websites explaining the basis of these religions?

Update:

Please...no my religion is better than the other answers! I'm looking for unbiased info.

Update 2:

Wow, Spanner, that's some stuff there. Now my next thing to research will be Illuminati. I don't remember them being mentioned in the world religion class I took in school. My curious mind leads me many places.

Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses are both self-described Christians. The religions resemble each other in very superficial ways, but their theologies are markedly different.

As individuals, many Witnesses note that adherents of Mormonism have a reputation for neighborliness and godly love which is too uncommon among self-described Christians.

(John 13:34-35) I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.”

It is also true that Mormonism has managed to recognize a few of the obvious bible truths that continue to evade most of Christendom, such as recognizing that Jesus the Son is a distinct person from God the Father.

(Mark 13:32) Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father.

(John 20:17) Jesus said to her: “...For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.’”

Also, it is interesting that only Jehovah's Witness and Mormonism have any real program of lay-ministry in which every adherent is encouraged to preach.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

Jehovah's Witnesses work to spread the Good News about the Kingdom of God, and so that is the focus of their message; they do not work at targeting any specific religion. Of course, "Mormonism" is not a single religion, but the so-called 'Latter-day Saints' tolerance of holiday celebrations, warfare, and nationalism are among the beliefs which Jehovah's Witnesses feel are incompatible with true worship.

It seems best to allow Mormons themselves to describe the uniqueness of their beliefs regarding various post-biblical holy writings, modern-day literal prophesy, the correlation between the physical and spirit realms, and the various levels of grandeur in heaven.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I follow the Christ as my spiritual Leader. All my beliefs are based on the bible, and not on man-made doctrines nor those that are based on pagan or mythological religions. Pagan and mythological beliefs such as the trinity and hellfire. Matthew 16:13-16 John 20:30,31 Psalm 83:18 Deuteronomy 6:4 Jeremiah 7:31 Revelation 20:14 Romans 6:23

I know that Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in multiple wives. They are very different religion.

Jehovah's witnesses believes in a paradise earth and those who go to heaven rule with Jesus Christ over the earth.

That hell is the grave and that what God told Adam is what happens at death. "for dust you are and to dust you will return" That is the punnishment for disobedience.

John 5:28 that this is going to be a resurrection of those who have died in the past unto a paradise earth and we will see our dead loved ones again.

Jesus will rule the world and we will have perfect governments. Where this is no war, sickness or poverty.

www.watchtower.org Is the mail web site and it explains it better. Someone else will have to tell you about mormans.

I do know that are very much about treating women with dignity and respect.

    Here is a good link:

Another link with an explanation, if you look for it, is:

    http://www.savethemales.ca/141002.html

(Approximately two-thirds of the way down it are interesting references).

Both groups are "stonecutters" (i.e. based on Freemasonry). However, the Mormon religion also is based on the Book of Mormon and some other material which Mormons uniquely regard as inspired scripture. It is also based on the founding of these so-called works of scripture.

I hope the above material helps.

    Here is another reference:

The Mormons religion is based on unfolding levels of secrecy in doctrine, which can only be accessed after an initiate has gone through a series of oaths, handshakes and secret rituals.

The oaths and rituals very closely resemble those of Freemasonry. They are also presented with the Gnostic interpretation of the yin and yang. (Udsing the yin and yang symbol as an intructinal model, they are told that good and bad must exist in equal amounts and in equal proportions, and that into everything that is bad people have to introduce a little bit of good - hence the black dot inside the white part of the symbol - and the into everything that is good people have to add a little bit of bad, hence the balck dot inside the white part.

I know of other "stonecutters" who are not Mormons. When people ask them, "How come you don't call yourselves Satanists, since you believe in introducing deliberate evil into events?", they smile coyly and say "But there's good in our system too". You can see how it leads people nowhere when good and bad they say have to be kept at an even, or i.e. zero balance.

Source(s): Overheard a young Mormon woman explain the yin and yang to a child while painting the child's face at a local children's festival. I also heard some sarcastic feedback. Innocent fun, heh?

There are a lot of false and opinionated information on either churches on the internet, so be careful where you go to get your information. Go to the official websites of both churches.

The official website for Mormons is www.lds.org

Please try to find out for yourself what the differences are, if I knew a website for the official website for the Jehovah Witnesses, I'd tell you and encourage you to find out for yourself and judge for yourself instead of having someone influencing you on what they think you should know.
