I assume you're talking about al-Qaeda and other factions who believe that their fight against us is a holy war.
Keep in mind...not everyone thinks like you. Here's how people view America: they think we're arrogant. To a point, that is true, but it's stretched out by leaders of terrorist organizations for them to get powerful. Islam by itself does NOT encourage pointless killing, just the same as Christianity. Many of the basic ideals of both religions are the same.
You just have to realize point of view...say, for example, if you looked at World War 2 through Hitler's eyes...we were evil. That same idea can be applied now.
