If you have a question about religion, would you consider contacting your library, by email, phone, US mail?
I am just curious. I do not work for any library.
Deke: I do not work for a library, but I have worked at a library that prided/prides itself on its at-a-distance reference service, including answering questions about religion. Librarians like to think of themselves as reference resources. Your answer tells me that they are not projecting this image very well.
Soul Shaper: Reference librarians would like to see themselves as having answers. Your answer tells me that they are not seen as a source of answers.
swilson_lewis: I am fishing for people's attitudes toward at-a-distance reference service. I deliberately left out visiting a library.

If I am looking for answers, I will go to the library and check out books pertaining to the answer I seek. I wouldn't "contact them". They don't have the answers.

Why would someone contact the library for a religious question, other than to inquire if they had a particular book on the shelf?

I do it all the time. But my library is here on campus. My personal library has over 1,000 books and I use it also.

how about going there? I am almost positive you will find answers to almost all the questions you have.
