Broomfield, Co?!? Or any other nice suburbs between Denver and Boulder?!?!?

Is Broomfield, Colorado a nice city to live in? (Safe/family town--or is there a section that is not too good).

I like the prime location between Boulder and Colorado. Are there any other towns located in this area that are good and/or better yet still affordable (200k-300k houses)?

Any info would be great, thanks in advance!

Broomfield is a very nice city to live in. Westminster and Louisville are both comparable and affordable. Best bet: talk to an realestate agent and tell them you want to live between Boulder and Denver and your price range and see what they can come up with. Its doesn't really matter what town you are in, in that area, its all going to be atleast decent. There aren't any "bad" areas. You can definetly find a house in that price range. Though, it probably won't be new. Most house I have seen in that price range are under 2,000 or maybe under square feet, 3-4bdrms and 2ish baths. But there is a big difference between a 200k house and a 300k house. In that area, you will probably pay more than in other Denver areas because the schools are great, you get view of the flatirons and Denver, and those communities are just in demand.

    Good Luck!

Broomfield, Westminster, Louisville, Lafayette, and a few unincorporated ares all are what you say you want. Single family house prices range from 200,000 (hard to find, maybe in a dodgy neighborhood) to over a million. Townhouses and condos are cheaper of course. 300K is a much more realistic number than 200K for "good".

If someone in the household is working here, you'll want to be close to work. Traffic is bad. Of course, farther out East is generally cheaper. The location is indeed prime, with good access and even some views.

What you really need is a real estate agent. Some will represent you as a buyer, and you pay no fee, they get a cut of the sellers commission. You do have to be careful about picking an ethical one, there's plenty of scope for conflict of interest.

  • If you're looking at communities off of the Boulder/Denver highway (Hwy 36), consider Louisville. I lived in that area up until 2004 and I always felt safe. It was growing then, not sure how it is now.

Also consider looking at Erie (it's off of I-25). It's a nice community as well with gorgeous homes. I have a friend that is selling his home there due to a career related move to DC.

I loved living in Colorado, especially in the Louisville area. Close enough to Boulder but easier to commute to work.

    Best wishes!

I have a friend that moved from Boston to Broomfield, CO 3 years ago and she LOVES it. She's home for a visit this week and even thought her friends & family are here, she can't wait to get back. She has 2 kids, 1 in elementary and 1 in HS and both her and the kids love the schools.. I haven't been there yet but I will be going soon and I can't wait.

Westminster has some very nice parts as well as Layfayette is really booming now. It depends on what you are looking for in the community.
