record one sky channel and watch another?

Is there any way to do this without getting sky+?

I've already got sky, and am looking to buy a DVD recorder. I want to get one that allows me to record one sky channel while watching another.

I think I need a recorder with twin tuners to do this - does this exist? And will it be able to work with sky?

Thanks in advance.

Update:

So if I upgrade to sky+, how would I get the programs I've recorded on to the built in hard drive onto dvd??

If there is only one cable going up to the dish then no that is not possible unless you are recording sky and watching a regular channel (e.g. bbc1)

Getting a second box for a different room in your house might be an option, but I'm not sure if it would be cheaper just to get sky+.

Get upgraded to SKY + and this will allow you to watch one channel whilst recording another . It will also let you record 2 channels if your are out. In addition to those facilities it has a few more tricks as well .

there`s an option on sky+ that you select if you want to transfer anything you`ve recorded on the hard drive to dvd/video. its quite simple as the system tells you how to do it.

Sky have a good encription system on all box's you would have to get a big fancy computer enginere so i recomend just geting sky + if you really want it if not just try to suffer on without it :D

Not as straight forward as that, you need 2 feeds from the dish as well!
