How does spiritual warfare work?

Are we talking murdering non-believers unless they convert (like the Crusades) or something peaceful. Like do the opposing sides sit across from one another and pray until people on the other side die or convert? I'm confused as to exactly what "spiritual warfare" means.

Update:

Raven - Loved your answer to that!

Update 2:

I find it interesting that there is such a wide difference in individual's definitions of spiritual warfare.

Update 3:

Lukus - yes, I thumbs downed you. My head isn't in the sand. I see the fighting between Atheists and Christians all the time. But I wasn't aware that was the definition of "SPIRITUAL" warfare. That seems like disagreement to me. And that's a physical/mental thing. Or at least last time I checked...

The definitions are as diverse as the levels of tolerence and the ability of individuals to love unconditionally. People who have allowed themselves to be worked up into a frenzy believing that everyone outside their belief system and even some within it are dangerous, are capable of anything if the stage is set for them.

I met a Christian man once who said if he thought he could get away with it he would burn one of our contemporary witches at the stake and he knew other people who would do the same. This is in Canada. This was someone who was gainfully employed and held a job that required that he was trustworthy!

That to me says that these people (this man and his buddies)are terrorists at the ready. These are Christians I am talking about!!!!!!!!!Not Muslums!!!!

My personal practice of warriorship has to do with the challenges of my personal evolution as a human being. That evolution has an empathetic and compassionate quality benificial to others not vile or evil in nature like the aforementioned!!!!!!!

    Great question.

    Peace to all!

Spiritual warfare, according to the Bible is the act of countering Lucifer/Satan's actions by the means of prayer. It is predicated on the thought that a righteous person or a believer can pray to God and ask his help in fighting agaisnt Evil.

For example: A XXX porno store is thinking about opening a store near a school or a park where children play. In response to that, the spiritual minded folk will pray for God's guidance, as well as pray that the town councilors will stop this, then in all probability, they'd pray for God's protection and peacefully work against what they percieve as evil.

According to the scripture, Spiritual warfare consists mainly of praying.

First remember what the battles for and we all have one thing in common on both sides of the fence, we are all puppets.

The battle is for all the souls satan can take to hell and he fights the inevitable weaker resistance the believer, but runs from Jesus.

    Spiritual warfare is having spiritual

awareness of attacks through people from

the powerful evil forces that overcomes them.

The battle is not the person relaying the intent, but the source that uses the persons mind as a vehicle of spiritual manipulation,

in efforts of throwing the believers off kilter

in achieving goals of compromising the faith

leaving the believer in utter doubt making believers follow the flesh rather than god.

Ending in a lost battle directing people to Jesus as well as themselves even the saved are not perfect when following the flesh.

This is the devils most common attack of the believer, and he uses the lost in many

    ways to compromise the faith.

Theres only victory through Christ, and we all fall down in battle but Jesus will pick us up, and will lead us all to victory if we will just follow him.

    Ephesians 6

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

    Spiritual warfare

The Song of the Religious Reich/Right

Originally Deutschland Uber Alles (for those who need a tune)

Just one Truth there is no other

    Father, Son and Holy Ghost

All the rest are scum and vermin

We must sweep them from the Earth

Born to Die there's no Returning

Come to Christ or Burn in Hell!!

We will hunt you, We will Hound you

Break up your Temples and Remove you from the Laws

Don't want Jews, or Sikhs or Hindus

    Muslims, Pagans, all must convert

Got a book that gives us license

All must have a Christian birth

Hate the Sin, but love the sinner

Face it bud, it's heaven or Hell

Bow to Jesus, Come to Jesus

Or we will demonize you as the Devils own

Spiritual warfare doesn't concern flesh and blood.

    Ephesians 6:11-18

    11. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

    12. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

    13. therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

You can read the rest in the Bible. The devil and his army of fallen angels come against the saints of God (believers). They are spirits and we fight them spiritually.

We are not talking about killing non-believers because they don't convert like the catholic church in the Crusades by an evil Pope.

If you are not a believer you don't have to worry about it, because you are already on the devil's side. The devil doesn't fight you as yet. He is still using you, but he wants to get rid of me because I can bind him and cast him out of people in Jesus' name. He is a defeated foe to mature Christians wearing the armor of God.

There is a whole unseen world right in front of us. Within touching distance. Trust the Lord and read His Word, the Holy Bible.

Yes, throughout the centuries, spiritual warfare involved the mass-murdering of non-believers.

In the past, it was practiced by Christendom; still today, the Islamic hordes are following this method.

But spiritual warfare can involve pacific methods, as performing acts of kindness, righteousness, justice, and mercy towards your fellow humans.

Satan is the God of this world. 2 Corinthians 4: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Satan is the prince and power of the air. Ephesians 2: 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: If we have trusted in the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins the we are told how to fight a spiritual warfare against Satan. Ephesians 6: 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6: 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6: 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; Ephesians 6: 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Ephesians 6: 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Ephesians 6: 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

spiritual warfare is about the various tendencies in human beings, the tendencies towards goodness and kindness. And the tendencies towards violence, vanity and selfishness. The war is actually raging inside of everyone and you can tell by what kind of person you are and how you treat others who is winning :-) What happens in the world is a reflection of what is going on inside of people. Until we become more subtle, we need gross, obvious, 3 dimensional feedback to undertand our minds.

I'm not aware of any Spiritual warfare.

I am, however, very aware of the war waged by my Ego to suppress my Spirit, and maintain its control in my Life.

My Spirit is slowly but surely gaining the upper hand.

  • When a Christian is truly seeking a relationship with the Lord it's inevitable that he or she will experience attacks from the Enemy (Satan). The devil hates it when we grow closer to God, so he will do anything he can to interfere and disrupt that relationship. These attacks can come in the form of doubt, anger, frustration, temptation, illness, etc. This battle against the Enemy is called spiritual warfare. It's a fight that we must endure for our relationship with the Lord. There will be times that we will fail, but there will be times that we'll be victorious. In order to win these battles we need to prepare ourselves for the Enemy's attacks. I truly believe the best way to do this is to arm yourself with the "full armor of God."

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

    ~Ephesians 6:10-18 (New International Version)~
