Adoption versus a sacrificial offering?

As a person who DOESN'T believe in abortion but I do believe in a woman's right to do as she chooses, I am curious to understand why the Christian God would ask his followers in the OT to kill a member of their family as an offering and not be able to accept that a woman might not be able to support or cope with being pregnant?

What is wrong with the day after pill?

Do we have to legislate at what point in the blasocyst's developement that it could survive outside the woman's body unaided to declare that it isn't a baby yet?

No cut and paste Bible verses! How about just some good thinking.

Update:

Jsts22, I don't understand the idea of a sacrifice to any deity, so I wouldn't know what is good or bad. To me sacrifice is a very fatal concept.

Update 2:

Derek B. Genesis, the first book of the Bible, has Abraham preparing to sacrifice his son to God. "Take your son, your only son – yes, Isaac, whom you love so much – and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will point out to you." (Genesis 22:1-18) Abraham takes his own son up on a mountain and builds an altar upon which to burn him. He even lies to his son and has him help build the altar. Then Abraham ties his son to the altar and puts a knife to his throat. He then hears God tell him this was just a test of his faith.

Although it was a test of Abraham's faith, he was prepared to do it.

The sacrifice of flesh that begame the reason the Jews circumcise This is a complex biological part and is probably more complex than a blastocyst.

First of all-- What you are referring to in the Bible - was a test of faith-

Personally- I don't believe anyone has the right to tell a woman what to do in regards to abortions- that is a moral decision between the woman & God..I am tired of people trying to get the government to pass laws-- that in a sense just control a womans rights.

Until those men out there -that get involved w/ a woman-long enough to get her pregnant-- learn to treat a woman as stated in the Bible- they have NO legal or Religious right to tell me or any other woman-- what is moral!

When those "men" actually become head of the household- and take on the responsibilities- Treat your girlfriends, wives --as God instructed...THEN--we might consider listening..

Ok-- I'm done- I'm off my soapbox now......

The bible says "be fruit-full and multiply". I take this to mean be ready to support a child and raise it properly so it can glorify creation rather than just going out and blindly propagating the human race. Hormones can make people act stupidly and the loss of a blasocyst rather than a family of welfare dependent folks who are a drain socially and economically is better in the long run, in my opinion.

I am not saying people who need assistance are bad, no human is perfect, but those who choose the day after pill are not bad either.

There is nothing wrong with the day after pill. Anyone who thinks their is lacks intelligence. In my opinion any doctor who refuses to prescribe emergency contraception - especially after a rape - should lose their license.

cuz sacrificing is to please god. If you have an abortion, you cant sacrifice that baby later to please god. Duh.
