Why would you vote Fred Thompson?
If you are a Republican, his resume isnt as good as the other canidates, he isnt as smart as the other canidates, and he has had relation problems in the past. I dont see him as a true conservative, i think Ron Paul is more of a conservative than him. No i wont be voting Ron Paul either, but just as an example. He isnt charismatic especially for being an actor. He looks like an old baseball mit. He doesnt even look friendly. He will do nothing for the enviroment, for example he is very skepitcal that global warming is real and caused by humans. He has few stances on issues. He bent the political actions committee so his son can have smuggled cuban cigars. He flip flopped 2 times on pro choice, instead of Romney changing it once. He says he is all about Federalism, but doesnt always go by it like a hippocrit. Please tell me why in the world you would pick Fred Thompson over another Rep canidate. My pick is Mitt Romney, so if you want to bash my canidate, go for it.
Yes Romney is a Morman but you cant bash an American because of religion. U.S became a country from religious freedom. If you dont vote for someone because of their religion, when their religion is'nt destructive, your unpatriotic, a hippocrit, not responsible, biased, and very unaccurate.

If no one will tell you the truth, I'd be glad to. The problem is that republicans are worried that none of their other candidates are electable - hence so many people gravitating to Thompson.
McCain, despite his integrity and war hero status, is "Mr. Iraq" and his campaign is going down.
Giuliani is seen as too moderate (or even liberal) on issues, and he has serious skeletons in the closet.
Romney is a good candidate, you're right... but people are narrow-minded on issues of religion and won't elect anyone but a Christian.
Ron Paul has good ideas but likewise is seen as too moderate (or as a whacko) by the right.
The rest of the candidates are seen as too far behind or not popular enough.
So really, it's sort of process-of-elimination.

I answered a Fred Thompson question about an hour ago, and it has since been reported on the news that there is so much turmoil in his campaign because his wife is trying to run everything, and he is having some of his best staff members resign. He is a non-candidate apparently with an imploding non-candidacy. I saw a poll saying he is the front runner last night. This presidential campaign seems to be a soap opera.

Romney is a Mormon, so he'll be alienated by atheists and Christians alike -- one side will bash him for believing in God, the other will bash him for being a member of a religious group that many call a cult. Sucks to be him.
The only reason I like Fred Dalton Thompson is the fact that he talks plain sense, as opposed to your garden variety Capitol Hill sycophant that engages in political double-speak. I agree that Thompson's record as a senator is rather lackluster, but I wouldn't say he isn't as smart as the other candidates. He has a pretty good head on his shoulders. I'm just not sure he's the best Republican candidate.

Ron Paul is a nut case...Period, stop, end of the story.
Does he state some Libertarian/Conservative views, sure...but he's nutty as a fruitcake.
Fred Thompson clearly has stated his views, so I don't understand where you are getting your info. A quick google, Yahoo, or even Youtube search would give you all of that info in less time then it has taken me to type this reply.
As for him being charismatic, I'm looking for substance, not looks. If I wanted just a Metrosexual, I'd be voting for the "Breck Girl"....
I think Mr. Thompson's record in Watergate, and in Tennessee speak for themselves.
He is plain spoken, articulate, and thoughtful in his speaking. He says what he means, and (From what I have heard) means what he says.
Mitt Romney seems to be the typical career politician, and is not 2nd amendment friendly, is pro choice (But has now flip-flopped), and is same sex marriage friendly. Several of the things I just do not want in my choice for the next president.
