Is tomorrow a special day for pagans?
If so, what is it? I've seen a few questions on R&S today asking what fellow pagans/wiccans have planned for tomorrow.
I'm a Christian and I ask this as a sincere question. I like hearing about different beliefs.
thanks!

tomorrow is the official calendar date for the first harvest festival, called lughnassad or lammas. it's a celebration of the earliest crops, fertility, and the rewards of hard work... kind of a pagan thanksgiving. it's called a cross-quarter sabbat because it falls between the summer solstice and the fall equinox. these four sabbats are considered especially significant because they fall on the 'true' change of the seasons. halloween, ground hog's day, and may day [as they are commonly known] are the other three. if you google lughnassad, samhain, mabon, and beltane, there's a lot of information on-line about them.

In Wiccan practice, it is celebrated as the festival of the first fruits of the harvest, when the God willingly sacrifices Himself so that we may live through His body (fruits, grains, and vegetables).

Depending on the person's tradition, it's Lughnasadh / Lammas, which generally occurs on August 1st or thereabouts. Wikipedia actually has a half decent article on it.
