Should I contact interviewer again? He's not answering e-mail about scheduled meeting.?

I went to an a job interview for a job, and the man insinuated that I pretty much had the job, since I have some recommendations from other people who work there (his managers). He didn't make an offer, though. He said we should meet with his boss to increase the chances of a higher salary for me than we he had budgeted.

During the next 3 week, I contacted him two times via e-mail. He answered after the second e-mail, apologized for not answering earlier. He told me to tell him which day of this week worked for me to meet with his boss. I answered, but he has not replied. It's almost the end of the week. Should I contact him via phone to increase chances of meeting tomorrow? Or should I just "wait it out"? I don't want to look desperate (I'm not), but also don't want to show lack of initiative.

Thats kind of a rough call. See for him taking over 3 weeks with little communication is unprofessional if he is interested in bringing you on with his company. On the other hand interviewing can be a lengthy process if there are internal canidates to go through. If you have an insde edge (with managers as you stated) he may want to make sure he has appeased all interested parties before hiring you thats just a CYA move.

When I interview canidates for any position I can appriciate a call back to check up, but more than that takes up my time and comes across as desperate. I would wait, try to get some feedback from those you know in the company, then call next week (dont email) and ask " when does it look good in his bosses schedule to see you so that you can be "prepared" as much as possible for the interview. Tell him you are excited about the opportunity to work with their company and want to put your best foot forward, and you would like as much notice as he can possibly give.

Regardless you have the info to make the best choice, go with your judgement off of how the interviews went and the interviewers personality, if you dont think he'll be annoyed,,, call him.

Phone is the best choice. Sometimes people look over e-mails for more important tasks and just never get around to them.

Stress, though, that you would be happy to come aboard for the posted salary, and if his boss doesn't have time you're ok with that. You're comfortable with proving your worth on the job so he has a chance to see what you can do.

This says you're not greedy, they won't think about taking someone else they can pay less if the opportunity comes along, and you show interest in working for them. The higher salary would be nice, but a sudden budget crisis could cause that manager to put you to the back of his mind and they'd start thinking about someone cheaper.

Why did you give your home address? You never do this until you have met them in person at THEIR home. Perverts are known to place fake nanny/babysitter ads knowing they attract your women. You never agree to work for anyone you have never even met to verify they are who they claim to be Nobody would EVER hire a nanny they had not met unless it was through a licensed agency that conducted full background checks on all nannies. NOBODY would ever pay a anyone upfront That check will be fake. The best thing to do is refuse delivery - they will send it trough UPS or FedEx. DO NOT sign for it and tell the driver you are refusing delivery and to return to sender. Tell anyone you live with not to sign for it either. Once you sign for it you just confirmed where you live. If it's too late and you got the check, turn it over to your local police in the original envelope and report you were recruited as part of a money mule scam And so you are not threatened by these criminals, if you did get the check wait a day or two then tell them you tried to cash the check but your bank refused it as it was counterfeit and turned it over to the fraud squad. Say that you are not going to be able to work for them and if they send any more checks you will return it to sender

Often times the person handling the HR duties may have other areas of responsibility especially if this is a small company. They may have more pressing issues.. it's end of the month for most. You don't want to seem pushy,, just be patient ... act as though you want the job vs need the job.

Hang in there. I can relate, I'm unemployed, looking and waiting too.

sounds like he is a busy man. He may be having as much trouble getting in contact with his boss as well. Be patient. This could also be a test to see how tactful and professional you can be under pressure. Stay in contact. Be firm, but not overbearing. The best things some to those who wait.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he could be very much overworked, which doesn't really excuse his lack of attention to you. Does he have a secretary - someone who can intervene for you? For that matter, feel free to call one of the people you know there and ask if they can help. Tell them you realize the guy must be very busy, but you'd like to get the appointment narrowed down.

I hope you have already called....emails can be good, but when going after a job - you need to ensure that you 'speak with someone' for confirmation, etc.

Always call first - then followup with email.
