Why do men have more trouble admitting that their marriage is over than women?

Update:

I read that 2/3 of divorce actions are filed by women. Also, I see many more women who just say, "I've had enough of this." while men complain, cheat, drink too much, withdraw, etc instead of dealing with the problem.

Update 2:

Thinking about it--I only know two guys who filed for the divorce. All the other divorced couples I know, it was the wife who asked for the divorce. And I know many people who have been through this. It's more like 80 or 90% of time that the woman ends it, in my experience.

Because it's the men who are going to pay the child support most of the time!

No -- I think every different situation makes a different scenerio. He may be ignoring it in hopes that the problem will go away and not think it is as serious as his wife thinks. And maybe it's not -- letting go of a marriage is a very very serious thing. You aren't being very specific here either so that isn't helping with answers. Guys do have feelings the way we do. Do not underestimate a man's feelings -- they are there....they just show it differently. I know this from 25 years of marriage (my 2nd marriage) -- men are not complicated but they also don't express themselves well ALL THE TIME. How long have you been married and what's going on?

Source(s): And I've only had men around me -- two brothers (no sisters), my father who was my hero (yep!!), my ex husband and current husband AND TWO SONS. Do not underestimate a GOOD MAN.................

I think most men don't realize just how personally women take things. They have no clue that sitting around drinking beer with the guys can be taken in the context of "he doesn't love me". Most of the women I know who are divorced stated indifference to their feelings as one of the main reasons they wanted the divorce in the first place.

Men feel that if you are still cooking their food . . . all is kosher. I think it is just different communication styles between the two.

My old man feels if he was a "normal" guy, he would be the luckiest guy in the world. I buy him things, I support the family and I don't want to get married.

Whoever said it is more men than women. If a man has trouble admitting it then he is just in a situation of denial and still loves his wife and wants to continue with the marriage.

I have seen the opposite...But i think with any relationship ending, people deal with or not want to because of the people they are...Some do not want to admit defeat...

Knowing in ones heart that something is over, especially if it was a long term thing and children could be involved, could be a difficult to deal with period...

im not sure if thats so true,, infact both seem almost even for what i see, isee also we live in a world of fake love, most think its real, but real love wouldnt split up... read your bibles for the end times... its sad... people live in the land of unknown wisdom, which is human errors and worldy ways.. in brings people to the grave... not to Christ... almost as a sick illness, blind lead the blind, indeed...........

I would thinks its because women are more likely to follow the whims of their emotions than realize emotions change constantly and that its the mature thing to take responsibility for your own happiness.
