Higher wages is not an excuse that works with facts. So really, why would you come here for work?

Update:

Sophia you are so smart.

Update 2:

Sergio look on those same sites for government facts...

A full 20% of all ethnic Mexicans in the world now live in the United States.

If Mexico's corruption is causing a huge rift there between the very rich and the very poor, why should the United States be expected to empower that corrupt Mexican government by taking in the bulk of Mexico's poor?

(And causing U.S. taxpayers to pay a net cost in the tens of billions every year for Mexicans' welfare, unpaid medical bills, criminal prosecution, imprisonment, and other expenses?)

If we close our border to Mexican immigration, then that would make the current situation in Mexico unsustainable, and force Mexico's corrupt system to reform.

Impoverishing the United States with a sea of Mexican legals and illegals only sustains corruption and poverty in Mexico. The solution lies in reforming Mexico, not inundating the United States.

It shouldn't be about wages for Mexicans in the U.S.

It should be about wages for Mexicans in MEXICO. Since Mexico is where the loyalty of so many Mexicans in the U.S. remains.

To all those who have responded bemoaning lower Mexican wages:

How does lower wages in Mexico give Mexicans a right to invade our country?

If your wages are lower, you have a right and responsibility to change your government in Mexico to serve its people.

You have NO RIGHT to come into the United States and steal money from American taxpayers. And as I and others have said across many topics, the net cost in the billions that illegals cost U.S. taxpayers anually are quantifiable.

If you go in a department store or someone's home and you don't own a dress or music CD or pair of jeans, and you envy those who have these things, you don't have the right to just take it. And if you do take it, that's a crime that will get you arrested and in jail.

You don't have the right to come into this country uninvited and just take what you want. It belongs to us.

Really u can't compare pesos to dollars sweetie. When an illegal can come here to work one day's work in the US for what they were paid in Mexico for a full weeks work than the majority of the time they will choose dollars in the US. When u actually look at the economy in Mexico, the high class and low classes r substantially different in comparison; meaning their middle class is basically nonexistant. So, u either make a lot of money or none at all and the staitistics are an average between the overall income (not exact or reflective of actual economy when we talk about the poor in Mexico). So until u actually see real figures or go to see first hand what Mexico's poor suffer then, i will gladly accept the rations of ur figures and/or statistics.

Source(s): I am an American citizen, and lived in Mexico for 5 yrs in 3 different Mexican states both large (mexico city) and small.

So if 35% of people in Mexico are of higher income level, then what about the other 65%? Your statistics clearly show what you don't want to admit: that there are people in Mexico who would get higher wages by coming here. It makes no difference if some of them have higher income, because the rest of them don't. Even if 5% of Mexicans could get higher wages by coming here, that would still be MILLIONS of people.

64.4% of Mexicans are not of higher income level. Remember that when the percentage is not 100 the rest do NOT belong to the group referenced.

Low income in Mexico is far lower than low income in US. A large number of Mexicans can improve their lives by working what are considered low wage American jobs while living in better conditions than they left behind. To compare apples to apples you need to learn what the home country standard of living is for the people who choose to improve their standard of living by becoming "working poor" in US.

This also applies to Philippines. From personal experience there I can say that lower middle class lives as well as US welfare recipients. The Filipino poor do not qualify for such a high standard of living as American working poor have.

A lot of poor Filipinos have the same dream poor Mexicans have. That is to work in US long enough to be able to buy a decent home, some luxuries and enough savings or pension to live comfortably when they return home.

They are also investing in the future of their children. Given a choice between poverty in Mexico or Philippines and being "Working Poor" in US, they will choose US, where their children have the opportunity to become "Middle Class" or better. Corruption & discrimination are problems in US, but not as bad as back home for these immigrants.

I looked up your sources on the facts you state in your contention.,in those facts is that the poverty rate in Mexico is 40 %.

And with the minmum wage in Mexico is $4.56 per day (48.67 MN) and the minimum wage of $5.15 per hour in the U.S.

That is the reason why people come here to work,

I did not find the facts you state in your post. Your question was hidden behind percentages. If you dispute my minimum wage figures show me the difference in a dollar per hour or per day rate and your source. IF you Can!!!

    Lex

You are wrong , I know many families including those of my ex-wife that worked the fields in Sahuarita Arizona, that we helped financially because of the low paid, you just agree with her because it, fit more into what you want to believe.

Then what the truth in reality is.

Ave girl wants to prove that she is more American than you Anglos.

Higher wages in Mexico are still 60% lower than our lowest wages in many sectors.I just answered your last question so I won't bore you with repeating all details. But you really need to look at who and what is being paid the higher wages in Mexico.

  • 1 decade ago

first of all, that percentage does not reflect the whole community. in mexico, you are either very rich or very poor. so the percentage is the medium of the two. it is a bad portrayal.

secondly, they do not just come here for a job. they come here to escape the corrupt government in mexico, escape crime, and to live better. quality of life is better in america. look that up.

edit: here's a good question for lex. if mexicans are so greedy as you say, then why am i not acting out the actions of a greedy person? i have mexican heritage. i do not take and spend on the worthless. i fact, i have joined the national honors society which is a group that donates 100 hours of community service. so in fact, i am actually giving, not taking. as is my whole family who are here legal, yet, we are all of mexican heritage.

oh, and by the way ave girl, unfortunately, quality of life cannot be tested by the government nor recorded. it is a matter of opinion. but i'm sure we can find our opinions in the same place when it comes to which country has the best quality of life.

Sergio is probably right that its just an overall higher quality of life.

Within 8 years of coming to the USA the average immigrant is making average range income. ( which means however that they aren't 'just doing the jobs americans won't do' )

    Experience counts!!

They should go to Cuba and have the Castros guide them to victory back in Mexico for their coming revolution.

    AveGirl,

You're a smart person and probably already know what I'm going to say. But for the benefit of the stupid, I'm going to anyway.

Mexicans want to come here based on their greed. Plain and simple. They know that by being illegal, they don't have to pay taxes, insurance, etc. etc. etc. When you add up all of the money they earn at the end of the year, they end up being a high income household because they don't pay taxes like citizens do. It's all greed. Other people will tell you different, but sadly, they've been brainwashed into believing that Mexicans are here to support their families. You've just proven that it can be done in Mexico more easily than it can in the U.S. But by being illegal, they can double or triple their chance of earning more money that they use to buy things they don't need.
