Can you record shows from DirecTv? Or do you need DVR?

This can make or break my decision in getting DirecTV within a month, before Passions go off the air? Does anyone know?

    Yes you can with Direct TV's DVR.Or you can just get Tvo with is great to.

    u find a blank tape around your house since they dont make them ne more... put it in the device thats called a VCR( u may not kno what that is). then you press record to start the recording process. after that you press the STOP button once your show is finished.and if u want to skip the commercials you can press stop and record before and after each commercial break!!=)

    DirectTV has their own DVR that you can get. I think new subscribers even get it for free, or maybe $100 or so.

    You can use a regular vcr to record with, you just have to watch whatever you are recording.
