Where can I find duck for Duck a L'orange?
I'm dying to try it, but where to buy the actual duck? Never even seen or eaten it, but a friend of mine in Canadia says she gets it at the farmer's market. Here in Texas, however, the only thing farmer's markets have are produce. I have considered ordering it online, but I'm waiting to use that as a last resort, since I don't trust food I can't see to pick out and it'll probably be that much more expensive what with shipping and whatnot.
Heh, good idea, but I'm not much one for hunting, chopping heads or de-feathering. Too much work, I don't want duck a l'orange or fried catfish that bad. ; )

Here in my area of Florida, my independent butcher gets rabbit, goose and duck for me through the year. You will usually see frozen duck and goose in the supermarkets from about October through the first of the year.
Please go to Epicurious.com for an excellent recipe on Duck a la Orange.

Some stores carry it, but only during the holidays. Also, you might want to check to see of any local stores sell duck frozen.

Maybe you need to try a better grocer..one who caters to "high-end" shoppers or at least has a better selection of meats.
Duck is readily available in all our grocery chains here in Missouri.

Your local grocery store might have them, our local Shop and Save[discount groceries] had them, here. My Aunt served duck once for Christmas, she made gravy with the drippings, it was good. Our favorite Chinese restaurant has duck on Sunday. I like it!
You might call around to the groceries, they might reserve you one.

I buy duck at the supermarket. Ask yours if they carry it. Costco also sells it -- cooked with orange sauce. Just heat and eat.
