can anyone help me to figure out what kind of dell computer my friend wants to buy?
its from someone who has it that she does not know well... and we need to get info on the particulars and ....how much and when it was purchased she said its still in the box but the only info is a bar code # thats on the back of the product information guide. We cannot even find out the name of it and that seems very strange, not to mention we are in our 50's and ....are really ignorant of the lingo ....and we feel retarted hence the question.thank you guys and its a desk top I believe from 2006

If she just wants to e-mail, and write letters, and do basic things, the basic models should do, ie the cheapest one. If she ever wanted to play games, or, say, so other people could do so, try a middle-range one, say £500. Hope it helps!

Discretely get the tag ID (usually on upper back of tower) and go here and enter the number in the "choose by service tag" box and it should give you all the info you need. You may want to go to Ebay and see what the same puter is selling for there-look at -"buy it now" or "auctions ending soon" and see if its a good deal or too good of a deal if you know what i mean.

If he wont let you openly look at it you may want to pass.
