Should the NFL issue a greater punishment to Michael Vick for his offense over the murderer and drug dealers ?

Leonard Little: convicted murderer of another human being

Jamal Lewis: convicted drug dealer

Both currently playing in the NFL.

Vick hurt dogs. PETA is going to try to pressure the NFL and its Sponsors to punish Mike Vick far more than the justice system will, and far more than the murderers, wife beaters, and drug dealers of the NFL receive.

What is your opinion on THIS view of the Mike Vick case, regardless of how you feel about Dogs.

Update:

for you Legal Eagles out there

That was not a mistake, the reason I called Little a murderer is simple: if you are directly responsible for the death of another human being you are a Murderer, regardless of what you plea down your charge to be.

None of them should play NFL football again.

For some reason the true meaning of the case against Micheal Vick has gotten lost in the shuffle. The Federal Govt. went after Vick for the commerce of animals across state lines for the use in illegal activites (gambling) The only reason the animal cruelity was even mentioned was that it placed Micheal Vick at the scene. It's the financing of the illegal operation and the illegal gambling that he is being charged with. That being said Vick stands to lose so much more because the NFL has a very strict rule about illegal gambling that could ban him from the league for life.

Involuntary manslaughter occurs where there is no intention to kill or cause serious injury but death is due to recklessness or criminal negligence.

THIS is the crime that Leonard Little was convicted of (and has had WIPED from his record)

Whereas as Mr Vick WILLINGLY tortured then killed living beings for FUN and PROFIT (guess being a hero to kids and making millions just wasn't enough). This is what has me wanting Vick to spend the 5Years in Prison and a lifetime BAN from the NFL

(and before you ask, no I am not a member of PETA, but I am a contributor to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or ASPCA )

  • I despise everything that Michael Vick stands for, but my feeling is that the NFL should let him serve his time. If he's in jail for a year and can't play, that should be the only suspension he faces. As heinous as his crimes are, I think anyone who does their jail time should be allowed to pursue a job in their chosen profession. If I were an owner, I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team however, even if he played for the league minimum and offered to do the teams laundry after each game. Nor would I want Little or Lewis on my team. But both of them did serve their time.

Also - Little was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, not murder. There is a HUGE difference legally between the 2.

Why should anything happen to him, look @ these actors/actress that get a slap on the hand when found guilty of illegal substance found on them. Or when for one Brandy is DUI and kills someone and only gets sued and forced to attend rehab. What kind of Justice system are we living in. So what Vick has dog fights, I understand completely that it's wrong, so because he's and athlete we have to punish him to the fullest. What about everybody else in the entertainment world. You know what this Justice system is a joke, a laughing stock and something needs to be done.

America has reacted overwhelmingly against Vick. I don't think he can redeem himself. He should take the rest of his money and retire in shame.

There are a lot of replacements that will show good moral character and be excellent role models, not Vick!

I wonder how many little kids are trying to start dogfights because of this creep. Society is violent enough.

Neither Little or Lewis belong in the league any more than Vick does. Just because they were allowed back into the NFL doesn't mean that in future everyone has to be.

PS (Little was convicted of involuntary manslaugher, not murder. Even though it's my belief that drunk drivers are murderers it doesn't make them so in the eyes of the law).

I think this speaks more to the fact that in America we tend to idolize famous people and excuse in them faults that we would vilify any regular dude for.

This case also speaks to what a bunch of blowhards PETA are. PETA love any excuse to promote their own name. While they care about animal cruelty, if that were the primary focus, they wouldn't do stuff like splash chicken blood on Jack Hanna or try and put up naked posters of Pamela Anderson to protest fur usage, or try a bunch of racy super bowl ads to promote veganism. PETA is about as objective and credible as FOX News, only FOX News isn't so crassly self-aggrandizing.

Leonard Little and Jamal Lewis both were let in under Paul Tagliabue's regime.

Don't blame Roger Goddell for standing up for the league and taking action now. He obviously has a lot of **** to sift through. Examples need to be set so that this type of behavior isn't encouraged.

The evidence collected against him include gambling witch is against the new NFL conduct code he will receive a lifetime ban from the NFL unfortunately he will probable end up in the CFL just to boost the attendance for some greedy owner

Free vick! Give him probation, a big fine and he can never own a dog again. Problem solved. If PETA need something to do they can go to my neighbors house cause they do dogfighting all the time. Dogfighting is here to stay just don't get caught!!!
