    Water pollution,

    Factors,

    1) Human throw rubbish into the river or sea

    2) Oil leakage

    3) Factories illegally thros the toxic material into the sea.

    4) Thru sewage and fertilizers thats contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates nutrients over stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygen as they decompose, and block light to deeper waters.

This, in turn, proves very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the respiration ability or fish and other invertebrates that reside in water.

    5) when silt and other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites, urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains. Under natural conditions, lakes, rivers, and other water bodies undergo Eutrophication, an aging process that slowly fills in the water body with sediment and organic matter. When this occurs, it kills aquatic organisms in large numbers which leads to disruptions in the food chain.

    6) Petroleum often pollutes waterbodies in the form of oil, resulting from oil spills. The Exxon Valdez is an example of this type of water pollution. These large-scale accidental discharges of petroleum are an important cause of pollution along shore lines.

    7) Heat is a pollutant because increased temperatures result in the deaths of many aquatic organisms. These decreases in temperatures are caused when a discharge of cooling water by factories and power plants occurs.

Water is constantly recyvled by the heat that comes from the sun. The river and sea water gets evaporated and in this state, the water is pure. By rainfall, this pure water again falls onthe earth.

The pollution takes place after it hits the earth. In natural state, it was not designed to get polluted, but the interaction of man causes it. Men who claim to be free create these problems in their attemtp to excercise this freedom. However, nations need to put controls on this freedom, but here too, the enforcers get tempted and succumb to temptation, and the pollution goes on and on.

It is the axiom of survival of the fittest. The polluters may have a day today, but their progeny will suffer, but what to do when these polluters do not care to have their own progeny and what they are looking for is what they can enjoy now and so it is difficult to put breaks on these folks to think a little of the tomorrow that has to come.

It is young people like you who have most to lose and therefore you have to be more active in finding out ways to keep this planet clean. Start at home. Get your friends involved and through the internet, spread the message.

You should look up the Vineland Chemical Company from Vineland, NJ. Back in the 70s or something like that, the owner invented Ortho Lawn Care Products - his name was Arthur Schwerdtle his wife's name was Miriam (you might want to try looking those up as well).

Well, these products are made with arsenic salts. You can just throw that stuff away when you are done with it so the Vineland Chemical Company just let the stuff sit around. This seeped into the ground and contaminated an immense water supply in Southern NJ. The old Vineland Chemical Company is now the 5 largest superfund site (in NJ or the USA, I am not sure). Look up that case and you are bound to find some really good information. Schwerdtle was fined $75 million and when he and his wife passed away, the government seized all of his assets. Craziness!

Three main kinds of water pollutions: 1) Eutrophication which is due to fertilizers dissolving in water that runs into the sea. This leads to high algae growth and when they die, they decompose and this depletes the oxygen supply 2) Sewage which consists of organic waste that stimulates growth of bacteria which in turn also depletes the oxygen supply. Sewage also contains toxic waste like mercury that kill aquatic life and oil that prevents oxygen from dissolving into the sea. 3) Oil Spills

    ok here goes

    Causes of water pollution

    1) Agriculture-

Fertilisers give plentiful crops. But the overuse of these can result in the phosphates and nitrates ending up in rivers. These cause the rapid growth of algae, which feeds on the rivers oxygen causing the river to become polluted as it is clogged up with algae.

    Farmers dump waste etc

    2) Industry-

Low cost option for industries to dump waste into seas amd rivers.

Hydro electric power stations pump warm water bak into rivers wiping out aquatic life

    3) Transport-

    Boats

Transport of oil from rigs to land

20 years ago we used lead petrol the emmisions then got pumped into the atmosphere this got pulled into the rivers seas and oceans by rain.

    CONSEQUENCES

    Aquatic life killed

    water shortages

harder to clean water to make it safe to drink

    Visual pollution

fishermen lose livelyhoods as no fish to fish

    Tourist industry is damaged

U can work out the solutions for urself

but if u really cant work it out then my email is

    Jinxfa@Hotmail.co.uk

god i have to remember all that 4 my exams

    yay

Water pollution is when water gets dirty. Have you ever seen a water so clear you can see the rocks? Well if you put a pile of nuclear waste in it, it will become all polluted. Basically water pollution is like a human getting sick.

Yea.. the real reason why water's polluted is cuz people keep urinating in the beach while swimming. It's a true epidemic. No wonder the carribean is so blueish-green!

stop cheating kid. Get your own sources.

water pollution messes with the oxygen levels in a body of water. read up on biochemical oxygen demand.. there are non-point and point sources of pollution. non-point: you can't refer to the spot where the pollution is coming from, point: you can. that's all i can muster at 3:30 am, sorry hun.
