If sloth is a deadly sin, why did God rest after creating earth?

Rest is required for the body. That is the way God made us.
Sloth is when you know you should be doing work but you don't. Procrastination is a form of sloth. Sloth is just sitting in front of the tv and doing nothing.
There is a fine line between rest and sloth.

Ok,you know that the earth wasnt created in literally six days right?think about all of creation, and how complex it is...in the bible,it is made clear that a day to god,is a thousand years on our scale.that is about 6,000 years! and then god looked back on all of the wonderful things he had created, and he saw how good it was. He was proud of his creations, and took time to reflect on it. and that is why the Mosaic Law made the 7th day,a sabbath day in which everyone was COMMANDED to rest. Because that is the day god rested after finsihing the universe. And second, the deadly sins are not EVEN biblicall....so that kinda makes your question irrelevant. sorry. hope this helps :)

It's not slothful to take a day off after working for six days. What's slothful is to work for one day and take the rest of the week off.

Because there is a difference between sloth and resting.
SLOTH is the person who lays around on the sofa all day munching chips paid for with food stamps or their mom's money or child support, who is fully capable of working but who will NOT work because they don't think they should have to, or others owe them something.
RESTING is what you do when you come home after a hard day's work and enjoy the time off.

Resting after doing a lot of hard work is not sloth. Resting and not doing ANY work is sloth.

It is a sin not to rest when required. It's called not taking care of your body. If you imitated "God's rest" you would be awake 6/7 of the time, sleeping less than 3 and a half hours per day.

There is nothing slothful in taking a day to reflect on a week of hard work and to rejuvenate oneself. It is actually a much healthier way to live. Work hard all week and completely relax at the end. It was also a way to set an example and essentially create the week. God wanted to teach Adam and Eve and He did so by example. The seventh day was meant to be a Holy and Joyful day. How much happier would many people be if they truly gave themselves the gift of allowing one day to be labor free; to allow one day of thanksgiving and joy. Maybe that is why there are so many bad attitudes floating around, the loss of such a peaceful day each week.

His resting has nothing to do with laziness wich is what the sloth represents and his resting represents keeping the sabbath day holy.

Sloth is not resting, sloth is not picking your lazy butt up off the couch from those damn video games.

When we read that on the seventh day God "rested" we tend to think of it in human terms. God isn't human. Resting for Him was simply ending His creative activity for a time as it related to earth.
