Did Jesus DEMAND that you NOT mention his name?
Read Matt 7:21, then Matt 7:22, and then Matt 7:23. It looks to me like he said that you get to heaven if you do God's will, but if you mention my name WHILE you do it, you are a "worker of iniquity"

When I read this, I see Jesus saying "Worship God , not me."
When Jesus surrendered himself, he said "YOUR will God, not mine."
What he was saying is that if you go around concentrating on me, Jesus, instead of God, you are not only DENYING God His rightful place and giving it to me, but you are also DEMEANING God by making people think He would ever lessen Himself into being a human.
Jesus was indeed God's first created son. But we are ALL God's created sons(and daughters). Like any first born, you are likely to be the one closest to you Father's heart.
Jesus didn't demand you not mention his name.
Your question was just not well worded.

If one looks at the text it says by calling him 'lord, Lord' in english translations. In the aramic (the hebrew language of the time period). The word for lord was ba'al, and the term for Lord was BAAL. One probable meaning of the author would have been saying 'lord BAAL". BAAL was the 'resurrected' son god of LIFE/FERTILITY of the Canaanites.
One should also remember that 'Jesus Christ' is a translational representation, a title, not the actual name of a person. One should also remember that there wasn't a 'j' in the old hebrew language.
The nature of the verse is the same as the teaching of "Jesus' elsewhere in the scripture. 'Jesus' continually says that gaining 'salvation' is through upholding the Laws of God. Basically, saying NOT to be a sinner and cling to your sin.
One is to be ONE with the SPIRIT, many though place their sin and a savior between themselves and the SPIRIT.
Source(s): Mat 5:18-19 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven Mat 19:17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments - Anonymous5 years ago
Charles Taze Russell replaced into truthfully the founding father of the Jehovah's Witnesses, and made many errors in his and his cohort, choose Rutherford's interpretation of scripture. those errors have been the reason of a number of failed "prophecies" on behalf of the Watchtower Society, which includes the form of a significant development that replaced into for use for the housing of the "returning previous testomony saints" in 1929. It became an embarrassing monument to a pretend prophecy, and replaced into finally offered in 1948. The shown fact that the Lord Jesus replaced into truthfully the archangel Michael is improper on the main hassle-unfastened point; that being that the angels in heaven are created beings, and that Christ replaced into present day on the advent, for as Paul tells us, ALL issues have been created by using and by using Him. Ephesians 3:9 - "And to make all [adult adult males] see what [is] the fellowship of the secret, which from the beginning up of the international hath been concealed in God, who created all issues by using Jesus Christ:" Sorry buddy, no Biblical data for a great number of what Russell taught, and what the Watchtower Society nonetheless teaches to on the present time, in accordance with Russell and Rutherford's defective interpretation of scripture.

Jesus is saying that there will be people who will perform miracles in His name, but that will not do all that is necessary to enter into Heaven. These verses are a parable, a story illustrating what will happen when they defend themselves on judgement day.

Jesus is saying that all who call his name will not enter heaven. Just because you profess Jesus doesn't mean you are going to heaven. Of course, the contradicts Peter and Paul who both say that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

What it means is that not everyone, who talks about knowing God, really knows Him. And only who proves to God, by doing His will , is really of God.
You took this completely out of context. That's what happens, when a person , who is not filled with the Holy Spirit, tries to read the Word of God. God says that the carnal man doesn't understand the things of the Spirit. It is all about connection.

to the poster above. Jesus was know as "Yeshua" (Similar to Joshua) in Aramaic...the 'J' sound is a product of translation.
to the original poster: The passage refers to people who think they know Jesus, but don't in reality. Read the Sermon on the Mount in it's entirety - you will get more out of it that way.

Sorry. You are misinterpreting scripture. He certainly told people at times not to mention that he did this or that. But that was for that particular situation, not a general command.
