Canberra is a beautiful city with lots to see and do. If you haven't been there, you will really enjoy it.

Go to Mudgee and explore some of the wineries and cottage industries in the area. It is a very picturesque town set in wonderful country.

Book into one of the wineries in the Hunter Valley for a weekend of country life and fine food and wine.

Stay in the famous home of the dirty weekend, the Hydro-Majestic just west of Katoomba. It has been renovated and I have heard good reports about it. They do romantic weekend packages.

Find a secret beach on the south coast, take all the food you'll need and just go for walks along the beach. Take books and think of some activities you can do together that don't involve TV.

Another suggestion is the Blue Mountains. It's so beautiful there, and there are so many cute B&B's.

I second Canberra! The long weekend takes in Floriade which is beautiful ( even if it's not really your thing...). I drove from Canberra to Sydney yesterday - it took exactly 3 hours.

There is so many good serviced apartments and hotels ( check out www.wotif.com), and a lot to see and do. When you are sick of "learning" experiences, you can always hire a bike for a ride around the lake, or go and grab something good to eat in Kingston or Manuka

Visit www.onevacationclub.com - You can book on line. I have used them in the past and they are very good. Click on Holiday Shop or Worldwide Travel to find the hotels/stars/info/location/reviews etc.

You do not need to be a member to book the hotels, however as a member you will save more money as you will be able to book resorts and those prices are per unit rather than per person. They are an Australian company.

    Have a nice holiday.

Its a shame you cant travel any further. I live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and it is beautiful. Mooloolabah or Noosa are the best place to stay.

What about The Entrance? It's beautiful up there and there's not really that much to do so you can get on with relaxing.
