Does anyone watch their wedding video?

we just bought a camcorder and had a friend film it from the balcony of the church. A camcorder was like $400 and you get to keep it forever and actually get more use out of it, and a videographer was like $1200 and it was for 1 day....and no, we haven't really watched it a lot. I'm VERY glad we decided to go the route we went.

You will definetly be happier if you put more money into the pictures themselves, thats what gets passed down for generations, not a DVD that you probably won't be able to find anything to play it on in 10 years...lol!

I have hired one. I want the videographer to do interviews and film since I can't be everywhere at the same time, I KNOW I'm going to miss out on some good stuff, so I've hired someone to video the wedding.

I have seen many brides video's I think you watch it a lot at the beginning then later when you just want to remember the day and go back to your special day. You parents will watch it and grandparents and any one who couldn't make will want to see it. I think you see more of people pictures thought in later years. It all depends there is so much going on that day a video will catch all those small thing you missed. I personally am having one but I also found it was cheaper when I booked video and photo from the same place. Best wishes and good luck. I hope I helped!

My brother's getting married soon and decided against a videographer. I don't know a single person who taped their wedding and actually watched it. Seriously.

Honestly, I'd take that money and put it towards a better photographer. I'd personally way rather flip through someone's wedding photos than watch their wedding video!

You don't have to spend a lot of money on a video. Find a friend or relative with a decent video camera and ask them, Most people are honored to be included in the wedding.

Add them to your rehearsal & dinner plans as if they were a member of the wedding party.

NOTE: Recently my daughter's oldest son (4 yrs) was asked to be a ring bearer. He was really unsure about the whole thing. They tried explaining it to him, but he was still apprehensive. Then my daughter showed him THEIR wedding video. In it the ring bearer was 3 and was someone that my grandson knows. That sealed it. He was eager to do it then. He just needed to be able to "see" what he was going to do.

The wedding was Aug 18 and he did beautifully. Really enjoyed himself!!

So... your wedding video may have uses you can't forsee at this time. LOL

We had my brother video ours as a gift, so it didn't cost anything. We wouldn't have had one if he hadn't done it. We've only watched our video once, a few days after the wedding to see how good it was. Now it's packed away with all our other wedding items.

We have wedding video and we watch it once in a great while but more people have gotten more use out of seeing our pictures then the video. so if u really want to pay for more pictures from the photographer and leave the video ...

I watched it once when my mom came to visit (she couldn't make it to the wedding). It was not a professional video, it was shot by a friend of ours with a HD camera, and looked pretty darn good. It's nice to have as a memory, but we wouldn't have spent money on it.

We watch ours on our anniversery. We didn't hire a videographer however...my brother in law vidoed it for us using his camera. For the amount you are going to watch it there is no point in spending a fortune on it. See if a friend or relative will do it for you.

My BF owns a business where they turn VHS tapes (etc) into DVDs and such. He says a fair chunk of his business is converting people's wedding videos.

I guess it's up to you though. To me it seems novel but a waste of money (I personally prefer still photos - shhh - don't tell him that!!) but if you think you'll watch it when you're 50 - go for it!! It could end up being PRICELESS (I always think of that scene in the 6th Sense when she watches the wedding video over and over after he dies).
