Do Brand names really matter?
I mean, i've bought "no-name" jeans 4 like 15 bucks, but i've also bought Citizens of Humanity Jeans @ bloomingdale's 4 like $350.00? The only difference i saw was the durability.... They were almost identical (they werent knock-offs). so im thinking, am i dumb 4 spending $350.00 on a pair of jeans..????Am i spending money without having to?? So my ? is the following: Is it reasonable to pay more money 4 just the label? i personaly dont know....
(No rude answers plz.)
BTW im 16........
i but clothes with my parents' money
oops. scratch that last detail out...
i buy clothes w/my parents money....

Sometimes they do but mostly they don't. There are unique designs and cuts that have a particular fit and look. Sometimes you have to pay more for them becasue of thier uniqueness. If anything they should be reserved for very special occasions. Nowadays if you shop around you can find a great fit and look if you shop around and try things. I am kinda preppy but unless you are climber shallow things as name brand should not be of the greatest importance.

You know what? You sound just like me! I will go ahead an buy no brand name jeans one day, but I just recently bought a pair of SFAM's. Sometimes I like treating myself...(well, most of the time ;) )
I don't think it's reasonable for some cases. I have a pair of jeans from Jacob Junior that I've had for 2 and a half year that I payed 20$ for. And a pair, from another store, I paid 80$ for. They lasted half a year. So, depending on the company, you aren't really paying for quality. You might be spending money without needing too. I do too though, sometimes, but we try and learn from our mistakes...
Good luck!

I personally wouldn't spend 350.00 dollars on one pair of jeans. Look at what all you could buy with that 350 bucks. I am 32 years old, and no I am not old. But I have bought like Eddie Buaer before and they were like 50 bucks and I was like man that is expensive, but they held together and lasted longer. But like Levi's 550's, they fade so fast for the money that I spend on them. Just buy what you like, I assume your young without kids. So enjoy it while you can, kids take up what your wanting to buy yourself to wear. I deal with that everyday with a 13 year old growing boy. I guess my question is the money you spend yours or your parents money?

I have a pair of jeans I've worn for 6 years. I paid $35 for them. They're Levi's. It's superficial and tacky for someone to pay that much money for a pair of jeans that you might not wear for more than a year, let alone any other article of clothing. Are you dumb for spending $350 on a pair of jeans? Yes. Don't like the answer, don't ask the question.

well i think it's unreasonable to pay more money just for the label, but if you pay it for quality, yes, it's reasonable. i must say for a pair jeans, 350 is too much. like said in the previous answers, jeans wore out eventually. they will go out of style. and now you're 16, you can probably wear it for another..say, 5 or 6 at the most. it's not a good investment.
on the other hand, leather purse, the really good quality one, is a good investment. sometimes people spend grands on those purses, they take care of the purses, and years later, they are still in a perfect condition, don't wear out, and still has a good selling value. it's a good investment.
so think for yourself, is it a good investment? maybe right now you really don't feel it that much because you're using your parents' money. but someday when you have to use your own money and have to save every dollar possible from your paycheck, you will have to think whether your brand-name purchase is a good investment or not, whether it's worth spending that much money or not.
so while you're still young, train yourself for that. learn to be smart with money, not just fashion. think investment. learn to be a smart girl who's not only fashionable, but also know how to spend her money right in good investment.

They have shows were they compare name brand stuff, and non name brand, with clothes and makeup, and it turned out drug store make up was better, and even celebretites dont always wear name brand, you shold'nt spend that much on jeans your just buying the label and you cant even see the label when there on you,if you shop at like ROSS or som place cheap, you could buy like 50 pairs of jeans, instead of spending it all on one pair.

I think it depends on the product. A really fine leather purse will last you a lifetime if you take care of it. Jeans, on the other hand, will wear out. I spend money on brands when I need superior quality in a product. If it's something trendy or something that will wear out easily, I go for the less expensive generic.

Brand names don't matter the least bit. I am the thriftiest of all shoppers and I get compliments all of the time from what I wear. It's your choice if you want to spend that much money for a pair of jeans, if that makes you happy than do it. The more important thing is if you can afford doing that, if you can than more power to you.

normal brand names last longer than the other jeans and maybe it was kind of dumb to pay $350 for jeans but for that money they should last a long time and part of it is for the label

if you placed 2 pair of jeans, one was like 10 bucks one was 200. and had no labels. people probably wouldn't be able to tell. you know how tommy hilfiger's jeans are like 100? i bought them in the states outlet, for TEN DOLLARS. the amazing thing is, when tehy sell it for 10 dollars, THEY STILL MAKE PROFIT! so brands really don't matter,. all jeans are worth the same. who cares what people say.
