Most likely your paging file size is too small.

Although 712mb RAM is quite large, times occur when it becomes insufficient. In these cases, the computer resorts to what is called a paging file. It stores the least-used contents of RAM here temporarily to make space for new contents. If the paging file is smaller than the RAM installed in a computer, the computer doesn't know where to store the new data and you get the "Memory too low" error.

To change your paging file settings:

Click the start button, right click the "My Computer" icon, then click "Properties". Click the "Advanced" tab on the top right of the window, and click the "Settings" button on the frame entitled "Performance". Click the "Advanced" tab on the top, click the "Change" button, click the "Custom Size" button, then type 768 in the "Initial Size (MB)" text box and then type 1536 in the "Maximun Size (MB)" text box. Click "OK", and another "Ok" on the previous dialog box, and a final "OK" to remove the Properties window. Reboot and say goodbye to that error (until your next RAM upgrade).

EDIT: Most likely you are using integrated graphics (i.e., your system is using 21mb ram for as video memory)

Lil @astard is heading in the right direction.

Make sure that your Virtual Memory is being controlled by Windows and not set to a specific amount.

Right click on My Computer > Select Properties > then Select the Advanced Tab > click on the Settings button under Performance > select the Advanced Tab > click the settings button under Performance > click on the radio button next to System Managed Size > click on Set > click on OK and continue to close all of your open windows. Reboot your computer and see whether or not your performance is any better.

Also, "747" is a rather strange amount of RAM? Where are you getting this number from? If you right-click on My Computer and go to Properties, at the next window, you will see your PC model, processor type and memory. I'm curious if you see "747" there for RAM

You are probably allowing too many programs to load with Windows. Otherwise you should have plenty of RAM for normal operation.

Take a look at the programs loaded in your system tray. There should only be those that you absolutely need for the session. You can right-click on the icons for the others and look for either, "options," or "preferences," then disable the "Start when Windows starts," or "show in system tray."

If you are talking about the Virtual Memory, you can adjust it on the Performance tab of My Computer Properties. It's a good idea the make your virtual memory 2-1/2 times your installed RAM.

Windows is not complaining about your RAM. It is complaining about the virtual memory - the file that is used to swap out programs and write them to the hard drive for faster access. You may have the lower limit set too small.

Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance Settings > Advanced tab > click Change in the Virtual Memory section.

If you let Windows manage your virtual memory it will assign too much space and your system will slow down. So click the Custom check box and enter the values below:

Initial size: 10% of your hard drive size divided by 10.

Maximum size: 10% of your hard drive size

Example: If you hard drive is 377 Gb then the Initial size will be 377 Mb and the Maximum size will be 3770

747 ram doesn't sound right. Memory is in multiples of 128. Common sticks are:

    256

    512

    1024

    2048

When the problem next happens, right click the task bar at the bottom of your screen and choose task manager. Then click the Performance tag. Your physical memory is towards the bottom right in KB. Just drop the last 3 digits. This screen will also show your memory usage at the time. Try it now.

Website Managers: I think you mean 1%. Ten percent would be 37 gig and that's a bit too much I think. No harm, you got the amount right.

you may have been running too many programs for your computer to handle. if you can't add some more ram, right click "My Computer" -> Advance Tab -> Performance settings -> Advanced tab -> Virtual memory -> change. Change the amount and click set then ok.

Is that a Virtual Memory is low error?

This is your page file, the amount of HD space allocated for use as memory.
