Any tips for scraping old paint more effectively?
I'm repainting the widow trim on my old farmhouse. Some of the paint looked like it was going to just fall right off but it sure didn't come off so easy.
How much paint do I actually have to remove if it's not loose and what exactly is the purpose of this scraping?

The only paint that needs to come of is that which is loose. Then take a random orbital sander with 80 grit paper and feather out where the paint is missing. I don't recommend using a pressure washer around windows if the is and bare wood or loose glazing as this will cause the wood to expand and contract.

You can try a heat gun that are made specifically for removing paint. I've used them before and they do work. It's a little easier than just scraping and it will take it down to the bare wood which is probably the best thing to do.

is sand basting or pressure washing in the question? otherwise its going to just be a long boring scraping job.
