2005 when the Red Sox got the Wild Card.

People are mistaken with the wrong sox. The White Sox never made the playoffs last year. Minnesota won the division on the last day and left Detroit with the wild card. Chicago was way behind both when all was said and done.

Last year the White Sox did not make the playoffs (bad follow up season and great seasons by the Twins and Tigers), the year before the Red Sox did make the playoffs on the last day of the season after tying the Yankees for the division league on the last day and the Indians losing creating the Wild Card openign needed for both the Yankees and Red Sox to make the Playoffs. The Sox were swept by the other Sox in the opening round.

It was the Red Sox from 04 winners to 05 wild card team. They got knocked out in the first round by the eventual winners, the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox did NOT make the playoffs in 2006.

The Yankees were the last team to win the Series and make it to the playoffs the following year. They won it in 2000 and made it again in 2001. All teams following that for some reason didn't. St Louis has a chance, but are currently 3 games behind the Cubs and Brewers.
