What's the fair rate to charge to watch 4 children, ages 7 to 12 from 1AM Saturday to 11PM Sunday?

I normally charge $10 an hour for babysitting, but in this sitution I would need to charge a flat rate. What is a fair rate? I quoted her a rate of $ 160, but my boyfriend said I should have said $ 200. What do you consider a fair rate to me and the mother?

I would charge her around $275. That is a whole weekend with 4 kids. You might go $300.

Well, if you usually charge her $10 an hour, it would be $460. If you only charge her $160, you are only charging her about $3.47 an hour, which she will eventually take advantage of.

You are babysitting these kids for a long time (46 hours). Don't charge her a lesser rate, it's not fair to you or your boyfriend. I'd stick to your usual rate.

That's your whole weekend correct? $200 seems too low. I mean let's count the hours.

1 AM saturday to 1 AM sunday = 24 hours

1 AM sunday to 11 PM sunday = 22 hours

So you are going to work 46 hours straight for $200? That is less than minimum wage....

I would stick with the 10.00 an hour. Based on that you could tell them it is going to be 220.00. I think that is a fair amount.

I think 180 would be acceptable.
