It's not something to be extremely scared about. During the procedure, you don't feel anything but afterwards there is discomfort for a few days. The doctor should tell you all about it and they will prescribe some pain meds. I took a week off of school if this lets you know anything. Also, you can't drink out of a straw and you can only eat mushy foods.

The doctor only put me on tylenol with codeine which is a mild pain reliever and I had dry socket. You will be fine, it's only about a week of discomfort, not tremendous pain.

Also, your face will be puffy for a few days with mild bruising.

I have never had any fillings done at the dentist either. But I did have all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed not to long ago. It doesn't hurt once they are done, since you are still sedated. But once that wears off you will feel some pain. Just take the pain meds. that your surgeon suggests and make sure you take all your other meds. and rinse your mouth after you eat and you will be fine. You will be on a liquid diet for a while though, but your mouth will get stronger and soon you will forget you even had your wisdom teeth removed. Make sure that you also ice your mouth once you get home and after that, just apply heat to help with the swelling. Good Luck!! :)

is going to sleep an option? you go to sleep and wake up and everything is over, which I love had 2 taken out this way and going to get the next two out the same way in 2 weeks. Also another option is gas and needles in your mouth, alot of them that hurt alot depending on where the teeth are located, I had 2 teeth taken out that had broken and had the needles and gas and the only thing that bothered me was that my tounge fell like it was popping from the inside then it went completely numb.

I say go to sleep, it's quick and painless and you just have to pay a little more for it and then make sure you take your pain pills on time.

dont worry about it, i had all 4 wisdom teeth out, i had 2 taken out and i had 2 go back to have the other 2 out. i was scared the first time but i was o.k. the second time.i had local anasthetic and i felt nothing. just relax and let the guy do his work. after it ached a bit so i took pain killers, this lasted about a week, but someone told me they had non of this trouble when they hadit done. your mouth wont feel very fresh for awhile, us antiscepic mouth wash or lukwarm salt water to freshen it up. ( dont worry you'l be fine).

Source(s): stop worrying, it will be fine.

It really varies from person to person, for example, ones skin may bruise or swell more than the others. I've only heard of one friend who had a COMPLETELY negative experience and that was because she was allergic to the anesthetic and like I said situations and effects like that vary from person to person.
