11-9, were the Twin Towers imploded?

A queston asked a million times, and I'm afraid the answer is still the same.

NO they were not imploded. The had what was basically an exo-skeleton construction which means that all of the strength was on the outside. Therfore the twisting mostion caused as the steel floor joists expanded in the heat "popped" a number of floors out on the way down, causing the collapse as we saw it.

This is, and has been, supported by numerous multinational construction experts and architects who have been prepared to stand up on T.V and in print and state this quite categorically and also have their credentials examined.

The other side of the argument always quotes people who either have no name ("experts"), no recognised qualifications, or to be blunt do not actually exist.

It is tabloid journalism taken to the extreme.

I see nothing to counteract the awful truth that two jetliners full of fuel were used as missiles very effectively before my very eyes.

Also having spent time around munitions I see nothing to suggest secondary explosions.

Conspracy theories used to be entertaining but now are simply diversionary from the job of stopping these things happening.

Also US politics have now become so hateful, on both sides, that people are simply too willing to either believe or disbelieve something just because they hate the president.

Thats a country in trouble.

I'm a Brit who has lived in New York and was there when the towers were burning.

Watch the movies intently, the buildings of each constructions deliver means proper on the factor of have an impact on however the gasoline needed to burn lengthy sufficient to weaken the constitution. Another telling reality is that the constructing that obtained hit first collapsed after the constructing that obtained hit moment, why could that be? If you appear at in which the constructions have been hit, the constructing that collapsed first used to be hit a few 30 or so flooring lessen, which means that there used to be a lot more weight to purpose the cave in and that is precisely what occurred. Watch the movies from the planes hitting to the moment tower collapsing and you'll see.

Part of high-rise design has been to prevent topple-overs into nearby structures.

The Twin towers went down the way they did because they were *designed* to collapse within their supports, should there be a failure on the upper floors.

In the case of the WTC, the failures were externally induced (the aircraft impacts, the fuel spillage, and the heat generated by the fires).

Still, the rest of the structure did its work. Both the firefighters involved, and any structural engineer who watched the video, knew they only had an hour or so before total collapse.

That two companies of the world's best high-rise firefighters stayed on the job is a mark of heroism on par with anything in warfare. I still resent losing guys like that; over and above the nearly 3,000 civilian innocents killed.

I have equal disdain for anyone who suggests we should forget about it.

No. There was no need for any explosives of any kind to cause the towers to collapse.

All that was required was for enough heat to be generated by the fires from the burning jet fuel to raise the temperature of the steel to 500°C. At that point, the steel begins to weaken, and can more easily deform. Once the support columns started to soften, the mass of the tower they supported above them caused the beams to buckle. Once that happened, inertia took over, as that mass continued to fall under the power of gravity, causing the pancaking effect as the towers basically fell striaght downwards.

That's why the second tower to get hit was the first one to collapse -- there was a much greater mass above the fire zone pressing down on the columns, so that when the supports softened with the rising temperature, the deformation and collapse occured sooner. In the first tower hit, there was less mass above the fire zone (because the first plane hit higher on the tower), so the steel had to get hotter before it could deform.

There was a great progam on just the other night -- TLC, I think -- debunking all the conspiracy theory nonsense.

Documentary on PBS television 9/11/07 showed results of extensive forensic study of the WTC disaster by professional civil and structural engineers.

It was determined that the steel floor trusses, which were solidly connected to the exterior building columms, sagged due to extreme heat and warped the columns inward. The columns then buckled because they had been pulled out of shape.

The trusses had been fireproofed with a spray-on material which was and still is commonly used. The engineers figured that some of this fireproofing had been broken loose by the impact of the heavy plane striking the building at about 530 miles per hour. More highly adhesive fireproofing is now available, but like many other possible improvements, it is more expensive. Better fireproofing by itself would not have saved the building, but would have delayed the collapse and saved some lives.

As terrible as the destruction of the WTCwas, the loss of life in high-rise buildings is statistically very low, but civil engineers now have to consider and allow for the possibility of terrorist attacks as they design or improve buildings that may be potential targets.

I just saw a documentary film that my friend rented and it was on this very issue. I don't know the name of it but it put a question in my mind that wasn't there before. It didn't totally sell me but it made me question if we know everything about what happened. They showed implosions and experts on the subject. They showed the steel workers who put up the buildings and removed what was left from ground zero. They also dispelled other theories with intelligent arguments. However I thought some of the stuff was bs but it's worth taking a look at if you can find it. Sorry I don't know the name. I do agree with our friend from the UK in that we can't not change the past. We will never all agree. We still don't agree who killed JFK. It is one of those things that we never thought would happen to us and it's hard to except that it did and could happen again. We need to stop fighting amongst ourselves and come together as Americans (as we did right after 9/11) to become a strong front against the terrorist who we all agree attacked us and continue to plague us with their terror.

I saw a show years ago,before 9-11 about the building of the twin towers. The buildings were actually designed to fall exactly like they did. The buildings were also designed to with stand a plane crash,but the planes they had back when they were built were not as large as the planes we have now. The entire building collapsed because of the weight of the upper floors falling onto the lower ones.

If you have ever watched an implosion,the building collapses from the bottom up.

Im not a conspiracy theory kind of person either. In fact, I cant stand people that think everything is a government cover-up for some BS in their minds...

But even as I watched the towers fall on 9-11, I was wondering how 2 100+ story tall buildings can both fall straight down..... Especially from the top ALL the way to the bottom.... I sat there thinking before they collapsed that "the tops will probably fall, and maybe take a few floors below".... But once I saw the entire first building go down, I wondered how that was possible if there was no damage to the lower 50 floors??? I would think the top would collapse, then eventually just fall away from the remaining structure, cause a little damage to those lower floors, then that would be it..... Even if it were to take the entire building down, I would expect the lower 30 floors to fall over, not fall straight down...

Like I said, I dont believe in conspiracies typically, but that was one thing I wondered about even while I watched the buildings fall.... I cant explain it... Im sure some genius physics guy with a degree in mechanical engineering and explosive ordinance probably could... So I will leave it up to him/her to tell me if he/she believes it was a conspiracy...

Have you EVER seen an intentional demolition of a building on T.V.??? Have you ever seen a demolition team implode a building from the top down??? Do you think that who ever might have been in on a conspiracy plot to kill 3,000 people could have planted the needed amount of explosives to do that job....on TWO buildings the size of the Twin Towers and could have hidden the amount of explosive material needed to get the job done a n d nobody saw t h e m d o i n g t h a t l i t t l e j o b ? Get real! It would have taken more time than it would have taken for the job to be leaked to "The New York Times". Bush and cronies aren' t that good! Many television channels did a cover on that issue like the history channel and discovery and it was said that the heat from the airplane and fuel and fire actually weakened the beams and structure beams begins to bend and melt.As for did the Towers imploded I'm not entirely sure
